I mean if I do not agree with someone, I do not resort to negativity with words and name calling. What is up with that?

Why are Believers so closed minded and rude?

One time when an atheist put up a question like this - obviously asking why believers were aggressive and rude - some wit changed their screen name to "Athiests [sic] are whiny babies". As far as I know that person still turns up every now and then and makes an obnoxious comment or two.

We all have our moments - beliefs or no beliefs. Some just have more moments than others.

LMAO Us non believers are the closed minded ones and rude. OK then why did this person Wendy R stalk me, threatened me and my pets and constantly sent me emails of hate and ones full of Jesus Loves You five hundred times in one email? And you have the nerve to say US non believers are the rude and closed minded ones? There you go hypocrisy in action as always from you people.

I find myself being closed-minded typically when believers try to cram their beliefs down my throat against my will.

If I don't want to say "our nation under God", I shouldn't be berated for making this choice.

If I want stem cell research to go forward so that I can regenerate my dead insulin-producing cells and avoid some complications from diabetes which I have endured some 30 years, I don't want right-wing religious groups lobbying against government funding for such based on their belief system and their interpretation of Biblical scripture.

Other than in these types of circumstances I'm pretty willing to listen to people describe their beliefs, myself.

Rude. Closed minded. Negative. Name callers.
The Non-believers might well be all of that.
They are not, however, Christian.
Here is a quote from a question posted by a Christian, yesterday...
"When you get a chance to meet an atheist....?
wouldn't you just love to punch them in the stomach and tell them to wake up and read the bible!".
People may have their faults, and ill manners may rank amongst those faults.
BUT.
There is, as I understand it, NO NEED WHATSOEVER for threats of violence. Especially not from followers of the religion of 'Love'.

Let he who is without sin... To quote your scriptures.

Or, to paraphrase you, Christians threatening violence (against the Community Guidelines of Y!A).
What's up with that?

Maybe you don't, but the majority of believers I run into do resort to name-calling and worse. I've been taunted, my car has been keyed with the word "heathen", my son has been ridiculed, and more. Then I come online and am harrassed.

I have responded in kind at times because I get so frustrated at the lack of respect for my non-belief.

Believe what you wish, but don't insist I believe as well... and when you know why you disregard all other gods, you'll understand why I disregard yours.

first off I am a christian, but who are you to judge them, judge not less you be judged correct? But, I'd have to say most non believers are not really closed minded you just have to show them the truth of what you are talking about. and the rude part is probably becasue you or someone is trying to ram religion down their mouth.

some people on both sides act like that. Most of us non-believers are closed minded to your arguments because they're totally played out and a lot of us grew up christian and know all the things you're preaching at us about and we made up our minds about it, your preaching will not change my mind.

I think anyone with strong beliefs tend to be close minded -- not just non-believers but believers as well. But not everyone is close minded and rude about their beliefs -- but you may assume they are if they are defending themselves and you don't agree. Maybe just don't bring that stuff up anymore with people and you won't get that reaction.

i have noticed that some people are that way but not all of them.most will say when i speak of God and his spirit that ,I Don't Believe in God,.no argument,I had someone stay with me for years that didn't believe in God, i had gotten disabled and needed someone to help me, he didn't believe, simple.i believed, simple, we never spoke much about God.
he even went to church with me sometimes,I never tried to change him,he never tryed to change me.but on the Internet people can be rude and get away with it,hiding behind there computers,I have found thru the Internet that theirs a lot of strange people out there.we have free will so that's Gods business not mine to change them, i simply try to live a spiritual based life,as my people did.
