I don't know, if somebody came into my church thowing things around and getting mad, I don't know if I'd call him so nice, but to answer your questions, what happened is Jesus died the eggs and then hid them in baskets for his diciples to find.

The word easter occurs only once in the Bible (Acts 12: 4) and then would be better translated passover.
The word Easter is from Eastre, a Norse goddess whose pagan festival was observed at the spring equinox. The association of this pagan goddess with the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ was only be adaptation and synthesis. There is no real connection. Jesus, being the Lamb of God, was crucified at passover time and is the true Passover (see 1 Cor. 5: 7). He was raised from the grave on the third day thereafter. It thus became a springtime anniversary, and has come to be called Easter in the Christian world.

Not during but after. The Jews were occupied by the Romans and were oppressed by Roman laws. After Jesus died and rose from the dead, Mary Magdalene was the first to see Him. Sometime after, Mary Magdalene took 12 eggs. 12 for the twelve disciples of Jesus and eggs were the universal symbol of "New Life." She then, painted the 12 eggs red, for the "Blood of Christ" and went to the Roman emperor with her basket of red eggs. Mary Magdalene handed the Roman emperor a red egg and said, "Christ is risen." The Roman emperor normally would have beheaded a person for such an act but, he feared her and the Christ. Instead of beheading her, he decided to pass a rumor in order to discredit her so that no one would believe her. The Roman emperor spread a lie that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute. No one would take the word of a prostitute seriously but, that did not stop many from believing her. Mary Magdalene was NEVER a prostitute and she NEVER had sex with Jesus.
P.S. Actually, the Orthodox Christians say "Christos Anesti" which is Greek for "Christ is risen" and the proper response is "Alithos Anesti", meaning "Indeed He is risen." In Arabic or Farsi it is "Ma' si qam" and the response is "Ha' an qam." In Slavic it is "Kristos Voskresi" and one would reply "Vo istinu Voskresi." I should know, I was raised in the Orthodox Christian Church. I never heard of that "ressurexit."

Contrary to what someone said about Easter being some "goddess" name... It is not.
The term "easter" is a corruption of the Latin name for Thursday's celebration of the Last Supper.
Festa Paschalia. Festa meaning Feast - is mispronounced to Easter. Much like Quatuor Tempora is corrupted to Ember. Ember Days celebrated at seasonal changes. Something the church no longer does.
The coloring of eggs actually comes to us from a legend of Mary Magdalene. She was having dinner with Tiberius Caesar, or so the story goes. He refused to believe that a man could rise from the dead. So Mary Magdalene cupped an egg in her hand and said something along the lines of 'Truly he is risen. If it be so may this egg turn red in my hand.' And so it did. Which is why images of the Magdalene often show her with red eggs. And our Orthodox cousins remain true to ONLY red eggs which then hand to one another saying "Christus Ressurexit." Which means Christ is Risen. You're supposed to take the egg and say "Truly he is risen" in return.
But then the mass market steps in. Why only red eggs? Let's make all sorts of pretty spring colors...
Ruins the whole meaning. And most Christians fall for it.

Such things are too trivial to have been mentioned in the Bible. I wouldn't waste my time with such issues, if I were you. You can make better use of your time.
