Yes, it is serious.
Usually when the oil light comes on, is when there is no oil in the engine. You may need to add about 4 litres of oil, give or take a little. Check your dip stick and see if your oil is low.
The next time you drive your truck is only to get oil for it. If you drive it for to long it will over heat and the engine may or will seize up.

Very serious! Don't run the engine again until you check the level on the dip stick. The check oil light comes on usually when you are just about out of oil. If you add the proper amount of oil, the oil light should go out. Then you need to find out why the light came on in the first place.

If you run out of oil, you will fry the motor. Hopefully it is just a bad sensor but you can't afford to take the chance. Immediately get it checked out. Have a friend check the oil level if you aren't sure how to do it. Good luck.

Did you check the oil? If you did and it's fine, then it might be a short. You can check w/ the dealer.

CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL ADD IF NECESSARY. NOTICE THE COLOR OF THE OIL ON THE END OF the DIPSTICK .
IF THE COLOR IS BLACK .HAVE YOUR OIL AND FILTER
CHANGED . BETTER YET ,TAKE IT TO A TRUSTED MECHANIC AND HAVE THEM CHECK FOR POSSIBLE OIL LEAKS . CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK.OR AT EVERY FILL UP OF YOUR FUEL . YOU DONT WANT TO BURN YOUR ENGINE UP.
