Despite the fact that we eat more junk and have larger portions than other countries, 99% of Americans seem to maintain a healthy weight. How is this possible? Is it because we exercise more than other countries?

I don't know where you got that 99% statistic, but you are sorely mistaken. Most people in the US are in fact overweight and certainly more so than in any other country!! We have the worst eating habits of any industrialized country in the world. We don't walk enough like people do in Europe and we spend OVER DOUBLE the amount of time in front of the television than Europeans. People in some states like California are not the norm...go to the some states in the Midwest (no offense midwesterners) for a true assessment of the obesity problem in the US.

Where u do you live exactly??? Everywhere i turn there's fat people and not average chunky types either, there the ones with the over lapping disease.
I;m sorry how do people let themselves go like that!
If that were me and i notice that only string pants fit me i'd do something quick.
We have way too many fast food places and things making our lives easier now.
Drive thru pharmacies can we not walk in a store anymore???
Drive thru banks, banks used to be some peoples exercise once a week standing in line.
Now 55% larger we don't need things 55 % larger.
Ohh wow i'm rambling i'm sorry all.
Your bodies are like cars they need to be driven around the block once in a while or the battery will stop!!!!! THINK ABOUT IT!

The prevalence of obesity has been continually rising for two decades.

60% of the adults in the US are overweight and only 15% of the total US population gets regular exercise. we are the fattest country by far...

you are mistaken, obesity is an epidemic in USA these days. more and more people are getting over weight by the day, higher the weight, more the medical problems alongwith social and domestic issues, good luck
