Allow me to clear it up: Sin is an imaginary affront to and imaginary being.

A general rule of thumb is that if what you do will hurt someone, it's wrong. If what you do will help and support someone it's right. You will find conflicting information in every religion and every bible. I was brought up in the catholic religion and many things that I've done over the years would be considered a sin in that religion. I decided I can't live my life according to other people's rules. I have to live my life in a way that best supports me.

In my opinion, most religions are man made. They espouse love and acceptance and then they turn around and reject people who don't believe what they teach. Where is the love in that? Over the years I've come to adopt a more spiritual rather than religious way of life and that has served me well.

Follow your heart. Do what you feel you need to do without hurting anyone else. You will make mistakes along the way and you will encounter other people who make mistakes. Forgive yourself and others knowing you did the best you knew how at the time. Learn from your mistakes and move forward. You know what's right and wrong, you're just getting caught up in other people's opinions.

Simply put ,sin is anything that seperates us from having a relationship with God.
If you are doing something and can't thank God for it then chances are good it is a sin. If you wouldn't want your mother finding out about it, it is probably a sin.
Consult the ten commandments. It is pretty clear.
I'm sorry you are geting confused about sin. The point in recognizing it is to realize that we all have sin in our lives. We all need Christ to cleanse us from it. Knowing weither or not each and every action in your life is sin is not as important as knowing that Jesus is the only way to be free from that bondage.
The more you mature as a Christian the easy it is to know right from wrong.

Sin doesn't mean "wrongdoing" per se. It means "missing the mark" so as you can see it can be a wide range of things...especially those actions that hurt oneself and others. For example, damage to the environment can be considered a sin because it's harmful to others, but I rarely see any spiritual leader address it as such. Seems some of them are too obsessed with the idea of looking at sexual acts that in point of fact hurt no one. Too many folks consider using profanity a sin, but yet they indulge in gossip, backbiting and lying about others or making pointed personal remarks about someone's physical appearance that is hurtful to that person or to people that person loves. I would argue those are worse sins than saying the "f" word would be...

In the end, whether or not you have "sinned" is between YOU and GOD, not some human religious leader or peers. If you follow the Golden Rule "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" you can't go wrong :)

You have to read more of your bible. If you read the bible it will expose what is sin in your life. Also, once you become aware of what is sin, when you do sin the Holy Spirit of God will convict you. The Holy Spirit will bare witness to you of what it sin. I am going to be transparent and honest with you. When I first became saved, I did not know masturbation was a sin. I would argue with the people at my church that it was natural. It could not be sin because it felt so good. But the people at my church kept showing me scriptures in the bible where it was a sin. Then when I went to do it, I was convicted by the Holy Spirit, then I knew for myself it was a sin. The apostle Paul wrote that he did not become aware or conscious of sin until the Law. Or, in other words, He came to the knowledge of what sin was through God's Word. So, if you keep studying your bible, it will become clear as black and white what sin is and what is not.

The way I have figured it out with myself is, if i do something that everyone else says its not right and I feel bad about it then I feel it is a sin, but If I do something that everyone says is a sin and I don't feel bad about doing it then I don't consider it a sin. If it is a sin against what the Bible says is a sin then you will feel it inside, God will let you know Himself..Everyone has their own meaning for sin, the only way you will understand what sin is for yourself is to read what the Bible says about it, ask God and He will guide you the right way....Ask God to give you the understanding of what sin is....Good Luck and God Bless

1 John 3:4 says "sin is trangression of the Law". Breaking the 10 Commandments is sin.

Read these as well:
Romans 3:9-10
Romans 7:7
Galatians 3:24

Also take this test. It should help clarify this issue for you.

Sin has more to do with your motivation then with your action. Let's say you accidentally bump into someone...that's different then doing it purposely...even though the action is the same.

All sin comes out of selfishness and pride. A desire to please ourselves over God.

Anything that takes you and your attention away from God can be sinful. But you need to examine your intention and conscience. Check out this site:

On the left side is a complete examination of conscience. This can help you a lot.

First of all sin is something that is against God - so He is the one that you need to ask, not a person, even though he is a priest. What you think if sin, may not be, but I can tell you if you ask God to reveal to your heart anything that is offensive to Him, He will do it- and He will be faithful to forgive you , if you ask him- however forgiveness can only be found through the shed blood of Christ., Jesus is the mediator between God and us< ONLY!!

It's human nature, everyone knows right from wrong. You don't need to ask a priest, or anyone else for that matter. As a human being, you feel happy (contentment) when you've done something right and/or good, and feel sadness and/or guilt when it's wrong.
You just continue to do wrong/bad actions and/or habits and because you know it's wrong/bad, you're convincing yourself that you don't know (you're playing dumb!) to justify what you're going to do.

The fact is, you are a sinner and always will be. You will do things Christians deem a sin. However, you will never change until God convicts your heart and shows you what you are doing is wrong. Being a Christian means being Christ-like. If you are not sure, don't worry about it. God will convict you for it when He feels you are wrong. We are not to judge people for what they are doing.
