Why don't verifiable miracles happen today? What better way is there to convince people of the Christian message, and isn't that the commission given to the church by Jesus?

They happened many times today...

God acted on the scales of huge proportions, he created the heavens and the earth.

God as Christ acted on the scale of community, He healed their sick.

God today acts in the hearts of men. The most proud the most ruthless, like I change me from the beast, cruel and hopeless, into one that is "blameless"

I fail everyday but like many other believers we don't harden our hearts but miraculously we are humbled by our failures.

The holy spirit does what it needs. It satisfies and manifest God's will, not man's fascination.

Bigger miracles happen today when proud strong men are brought down to their knees in prayer.

When the Gospel of Christ is preached it produces belief. Miracles can and should be present to confirm that what is spoken is the word of God.

In Scripture it should be noted that miracles preceded, accompanied or immediately followed preaching to the Hebrews. Most often, in the case of Gentiles, miracles only followed those who were sent to preach. Even Jesus, being God present in the flesh, could do no miracles in certain places.

So to answer your question. One is doubt and the other is people who claim the commission without being sent. And the glory must go to God for only God can heal.

1. The true word of God is being preached.
2. Unbelief and doubt prevail.
3. No calling or gift given to those who speak.
4. Glory sought by men and not given to God.
(# 4 will even curtail but not stop a gift.)

Finally miracles get attention but do not convince people. Judas even performed miracles under the anointing of Christ. Even the works of Jesus Christ did not convince the skeptical and His enemies.

There may come a time soon when miracles will become very visible for a short while. Until then miracles are only for believers and always have been. What we are expected to believe first is the word. That is how we are healed in every case. " Who has believed our report? and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"

Fools looks for signs, but the wise looks for wisdom, Friend there still are miracles today, I knew of 2 people that was hit by a car & many broken bones they had, One was healed before going to hospital for surgery & the other was healed the night before surgery. This man I knew was to have surgery the next morning to repair many broken bones, During the night as he was praying, About 2:00 am while he was praying he begin to feel all his bones go back into place, The morning came & they came to get him for surgery, But he said Doc, I don't need surgery, God healed me last night, The doctor being a unbeliever thought he would show this Christian how stupid he was, So the doctor order more x-rays, Guess what, He went home about 30 mintues later, why, Because all his bones was healed. & just a little testimony I have, I had a black mole on the left side of my head next to the eye, it was getting bigger & turning black more every day, so one day I touch that mole & pray, 2 days later, I rub my fingers over that big mole & it fell off right in my hands, & to this day it is gone, & that has been about 5 yrs. ago.

Jesus is just as powerful today as He has always been. And, I am assuming that the miracles you are asking about are ones such as making the blind to see and so on and so on Look at us. . .the problem is with us. . .lack of faith. . .lack of commitment. . .lack of dedication and trust, lapse in morals. . .and so on and so on, but that's just my opinion. I always say if we could have the faith of a child. . .pray it, believe it and see it happen.

However, I feel as though I experience miracles every day. . .

Interesting question and I am sure many have other opinions.

Miracles are all around you. Take the time to look at your own life and everything else that is good in this world.

There's a nun who say that Pope John Paul cured her Parkinson's. That's one miracle.

The other miracle is that people believe her.

Because we have been forsaken. The world has become that greedy, power hungry and violent it has truly become Satan's realm. And he will take us blindly, like a herder of sheep, into the Armageddon. Its too late for us all now.
