Iran's arming Gaza and southern lebanon to the teeth, I don't think giving them a 3rd front is very wise... Sorry to ask this in the travel section but it seems to be completely politicized these days. Just wondered what Israelis thought about this.

In the last election, prior to the summer's events, the Israeli electorate seemed to choose this option. The withdrawal seemed imminent. However, with time comes wisdom. In this case, the Israeli populace has learned that removing the soldiers (and the populace) will just open up another avenue of attack. The fact of the matter seems to be that if there is any peace partner in the Palestinian movement, he or they do not have the ability or desire to restrain those committed to violence. As such, removing the troops -who can and will stop such aggression- would be unwise. The fact of the matter is that the only way to stop short range missiles is to prevent them from being fired in the first place. That can only be done with a presence. The truth is that the only reason that katyushas weren't fired from the West Bank is because those there did not (and still do not) have the capability. Recent polls suggest that Israel is taking a harder stance on this issue, and it seems unlikely that Israel will give up any part of the West Bank without a full peace agreement which would be upheld. I personally see no such agreement in the near future.

I really do hope that the Israeli government doesn´t give in.
Israel shouldn´t loose this frontier.
The west bank is extremely important to protect Israel, I strongly believe, that the politicians are not blind and dumb.

I don't think we need katyushas falling on Tel Aviv now, so hopefully the government won't give up the West Bank until the Palestinians prove to us that they are committed to peace and not to terror. The last two pullouts, from Lebanon and Gaza, have backfired.

I am not from Israel, but I agree with you 100%, it will be a really dumb thing to do.
