I currently have the standard box with 1 multiroom (bedroom). I rang them up to upgrade the main standard in the living room to a Sky+ and keep the standard in the bedroom. They said it's £99 for the box and I paid over the phone and they are coming Saturday to install it. I just had a letter with the costs that I have to pay the enginner on the day:

* Brackets to heighten dish position (incl labour) - £29.99
* Patio/pole mount for garden installation (incl labour) - £29.99
* Coaxical cable from dish to sky box (if over 20 metres) - £0.50 per metre
* Telephone cable from Sky box to telephone socket (if over 10 metres) - £0.50 per metre
* TV link with remote eye (incl labour) - £85.00
* Straps to attach dish to chimmey (incl labour) - £39.99

Where the hell did all this come from?

My mum just read the letter and it basically said additional costs that may come up. In majority don't pay it was just an outline of what may be expected lol. I feel a fool.

Are you sure the letter is telling you that you have to pay all of that? It sounds like these are just a list of extra costs that might come up if it's a non-standard installation. Since you already have a Sky dish and box, you won't be charged any of them.

If it is a standard installation it is free, if it is slightly different from the standard install the price list coms into play. When w had ours done, they classed it as a special hights job. I then had to pay another £60 and they had to come back as the wrong team were sent (standard install).
If you do not need anything special done, the install is included in the £99. Hope it helps :-)

I would ring them and say, if thats the charges, then you have no other option but to cancel your whole subsciption, explain you thought it was included in the 99 quid, you will be surprised when they say oh ok, we will do it for nothing, Keeps stating its false advertising, they soon back down, if you have to cancel then no problem as new customers get it fitted free anyways. so just call their bluff, all these companys try it on.

Go for it what have you to lose

they have to outline the possible charges by law, the installer will tell you if there are additional costs and if so give you the option of cancelling. in my opinion it's £99 well spent.

in case you're presently doing it, then you truly might desire to be doing it by Sky or an approved Sky agent. so that they are the wonderful people to respond to your question. So i will't understand why you're asking people on YA? Are you doing it by some hookie chipped container?
