Check out the dates and facts.

When was Robert Kennedy murdered? 5 JUNE 68

Who gained much in stature as the "sole surviving son?" Teddy Kennedy. (Three older brothers died "in service to their nation.") Teddy was being looked at as a possible presidential candidate.

Who was a personal and long time family friend of Teddy?
While Teddy says he never met John Kerry until the spring of 1971, John Kerry was a family friend from way back. Below is a picture on the personal yacht of John Kennedy from the early 1960s. Also, Kerry volunteered to work for Teddy's 1962 Senatorial campaign. Kerry also dated Jackie Kennedy's half sister.

When did KERRY go to the Swift Boats? 17 NOV 68 There he got three purple hearts and more importantly, a Silver Star, one of the highest medals awarded. And for what? If you read the citation for the medal, John Kerry grounded his boat leaving it a sitting duck and deserted his post. In case you are not aware, since World War One, the main tactic of the US military is fire and maneuver. How can a boat maneuver if it is beached?

When did KERRY come home? APRIL 69. He collected his three purple hearts for his three minor boo boos and came home.

When did TEDDY drive off the bridge? 18 JULY 69 Pretty much ending any chance for advancement.

DISCUSSION: Why would the Navy award a medal to a man who left his boat and comrades sitting ducks? My theory is that by giving John Kerry a medal, the Navy hoped to curry favor with Teddy. Since Vietnam was mainly a land war, the Army and Marines were getting much money, but the Navy was taking cuts. The Navy want Teddy to recognize what it was doing and by giving a medal to a friend of Teddy, they got the recognition. They hoped he could help improve funding for the Navy in the future but the plan got submarined when Teddy submarined his car.

NONE, he submitted/nominated all the awards for himself, BY HIMSELF, as officer.

I'm surprised he didn't recommend himself for the Navy Cross.

I can understand why the awards would seem worthless and tossable to Kerry, especially since he nominated himself for the awards....

LOL!

you were not on the boat my friend you dont know what happened he was the commander of the fast boat and being in that spot he took fire. what the bejeses is wrong with you you being a vet and all if you were in action and in country and know very well that he made moves that would have gotten his behind shot off and his crew to. He was doing his job and he did well. Get off of it pal.

Most likely besides his "given" ribbons IE service ribbon campaign medals etc None! Not even the Purple Hearts considering how his Purple Heart wounds were self inflicted and two of them he suggested himself for. Kinda of sickening I earned my shrapnel and gunshot wounds.......Shadow Stalker

my guess would be he'd only have gotten the national defense medal. he's too much of a puss to do anything heroic. MAYBE a good conduct medal... cause he'd stay in line... btu other than that.... nothing

When you marry the ketchup queen, you get a lot of preferential treatment. As ex-military dependent, I know being promoted is about a lot of as--kissing and brown nosing.
Kerry's big ole basset hound face looks good for both endeavors! lol. The medals don't mean anything if he didn't really earn them anyway. He knows that. The daughter of three war-Vet.

As a vet I do not have a problem with his war history, it was cheap to bring it out to run for election.

Why, because he was an officer not a noncom? At least his a*s went and did not duck it and hide out in the National Guard with Daddy's help like the current Prez or defer it and say he had better things to do with his time like Cheney said.
Puhleeze
edited: to "A Balrog of Morgoth" Bush did not do ONE tour overseas. he stayed here. so the Prez could fly all he wanted around the country, the first time he set foot in Vietnam was November 2006. Unlike what the National Guard is going through today, the National Guard was here, and we ALL know that the outfits Bush was a member of DID NOT set foot on foreign soil so get over yourself. He ducked!

Amusing that one of the "top contributors" thinks that flying a jet fighter for a living is "ducking it and hiding out".

Laughable.
