AT = Atmel
s = standard ???, LP = low power, LS = low voltage
89 = flash memory (80 = no memory, 83 = ROM memory, 87 = OTP (one time programmable) memory)
51 = uses MCS51 instruction set

The '51' typical referes to the 80C31 processor. 8 bit micro controller, the "51" version inclded a 2K memory but the same instruction set.
