My church is mostly families. Men, women and children.

1) Pastors preach about something bad so that we can learn from it. If he preaches about God's view of infidelity, it is in the hopes that we will avoid it.

2) Woman, in a broad generality, are more focused on their spirituality than men. However, many churches are evenly represented.

3) They are a status symbol. Just like people who drive Lexus, BMW's, or Mercedes cars, or men where flashy suits. It's not just black women that wear them to church.

4) I'm thinking you are asking why there's a "amen" after the preacher saying something. It shows (a) they're paying attention, (b) are in agreement with what he's saying, (c) to show how "holy" they think they are.

5) I was shocked one day to learn that one deacon's responsibilities was the "take care" of the widows, and I'm not talking about with chores around the house or financial. His church's idea about this was that the widows' needed their "knowing" (meant in the Biblical sense) to ease their suffering of loosing their husband. Although this is not to say that every church takes this view, there are some that do. Also, there are wolves in sheep's clothing that are among the clergy. They prey upon spritual women and seduce them into satisfying their bodily needs. It is a sad thing to admit, but it is very true in some cases. Although again, this is not to say that every church's pastors are like this just like not all Catholic priests are child molestors.

Sounds like typical cultural things in a black church.

1. When you see bad things, you learn how to avoid them

2. Men today tend to be too material and proud and would rather watch sports on tv than cultivate a spiritual life

3. Tradition and the need for approval and acceptance

4. It's a style of preaching and following. Agree with the messenger is agreeing with the message

5. Just another example of a weak and phony church that blabs all the words but has no spirit

Man you go to a strange church.

1. The only bad I hear about in church is the condition of things which we are compelled to help improve: poverty, illiteracy, wars, etc.

2. Not true where I go.

3. I guess some people like big hats?

4. I don't know what that means - cosign for him.

5. Sorry, mine has only his wife.

1. Pastor is just a man, like you and I. He's just an ordained person.

2.Congregation only grows with the population of woman. Pastors in seminary are always taught that a real ministry has to focus on the brothers because it is a real ministry when the most proud are humbled.

3.Many think its a show and so they wear sunday clothes like they wear ballroom clothes.

4.They are in agreement or sometimes its unhumbling and they want to show others not God that they are "more holy" than others.

5.Because they are men. Men fallen in temptation. That's why most churches prohibit pastor meeting with just the woman- both couples are required to be present when they meet or the pastor's wife must be present when they have to meet with the woman alone.
