This morning, the first prayer ever by a Muslim cleric in the Texas Senate will be delivered by the Imam Yusuf Kavakci of the Dallas Central Mosque at the invitation of state Sen. Florence Shapiro, R-Plano. (Articles I have found make note that Shapiro is Jewish.) Some Christians find this to be inappropriate because it is holy week. However, the reason for the Imam leading the opening prayer is because it is the (3rd) Texas Muslims Legislative Day. Why cannot these people understand that it is appropriate for this reason?

~I apologize for the generalization of "they" in the question area...it was used due to character restraints.~

Are you going to protest a Christian prayer next, or does separation of church (mosque) and state only apply when it's a religion you personally dislike?

I don't see any problem with an Iman saying a prayer in the Senate if the Iman was invited by the Senate to do so. Aside from maybe most people in the Senate don't understand Arabic at all but the Iman may pray in English for the benefit of the Senate. Anyway why is it such a problem when the Christians and Jews did it for years.

I don't think that any prayer in a senate is appropriate.

But that's beside the point.

I don't think it's appropriate for any sort of prayer to be said in any government house.
