IMPOSSIBLE...

If you believe in evolution, aren't you saying that what the bible says about creation, is a lie? And if so, why follow what you consider a lie.

Evolution has not been proven... it is a theory as vague as many believe the beliefs of believers are.

Please don't be deceived. Jesus has warned us against this.

I can't tell you what to think... but read for yourself and dont just take people's words for it.

Albert Einstein had a couple of Theories, The General Theory of Relativity and The Special Theory of Relativity.

Are they a little vague, too? Jury still out?

You sound like a poorly educated moron.

How did America become so poorly educated that simple word tricks (confusion between the common misuse of the word theory vs the actual definition) can be used to deceive large portions of the population.

The rest of the world is laughing at us.

And why couldn't God have used evolution? Perhaps Jesus came because only humans need a savior. Animals don't. Animals can't sin. Humans can. Perhaps Adam and Eve represent the first homo sapiens. By the way, most Christians took Genesis as allegorical until sometime after the 16th century. Many of the earliest Christians believed that the "days" of creation were simply creation periods. But what does it matter? Isn't the most important thing about Christianity Jesus? Isn't it more important to have a personal relationship with God, than to believe that the six days were literal? I don't think God meant for us to take every word of the Bible literally. If we did, we'd believe the Earth was flat, that there was literally a solid firmament over the Earth, and that the sun revolved around the Earth. We all know that the passages that seem to imply those things are metaphorical. We know that the passage that says God "opened the windows of heaven" to let the rain come isn't literal. Why do we argue over such silly things? The most important words in Genesis are "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth." Who cares when or how He did it? God is sovereign, whether He created the Earth in six days, or He used evolution. Accepting evolution isn't limiting God. It's recognizing that even though the men who wrote the Bible were inspired by the Holy Spirit, they were still men, limited by human understanding. If God had tried educating them about DNA or electricity, it would have blown their minds. Same with the idea of the Earth being billions of years old, and us evolving from an ape-like ancestor. Personally, I believe evolution proves that God is sovereign, and loves us very much. If He spent billions of years creating everything... that's amazing. What an awesome God!

I think that the fact that they can reconcile their religion's creation myths with modern science should be commended. They're certainly more open minded than you are.

I keep hearing people say that the OT doesn't matter anymore, if that's the case then why do you cling to Genesis as literal truth? You do realise that the deluge has been proven to be impossible the way the world is today - no evidence of flooding when there should be if it happened.

Do you believe that the world used to be flat, sat on three pillars and light didn't come from the Sun but from God and that the stars aren't other suns, they're dots on a solid layer over the world that is seperates the ocean from the "water in the sky"?

Obviously these beliefs are just people trying to understand the world with their limited knowledge of it.

So what's next? Are you gonna tell us we're going to hell?

God is also the God of science.

Don't deceive yourself into thinking that evolution is not provable.

Evolution on a microbiological level is provable and reproducible. However there has never been a change of species as Evolutionists of today claim. Darwin never made that leap in his work either.

Evolution does not try to answer the question of origin so comparing it to creation is not exactly equal. The belief in Evolution does not deny a creation. Just as a belief in devine creation does not negate the evolutionary process. Unless you stretch evolution into changeling species... which was not Darwins theory.

Apparently, even before humans were created, God's first creation was the winged dolphin. The dolphin has a very voracious appetite, and since God loves this dolphin more than anything else, he spoiled it by creating the Earth and filling it with different kinds of creatures to use as food for the winged dolphin. One such species is Mankind, the winged dolphin's absolute most favorite snack of all time. Since the winged dolphin is winged and lives on Uranus where no Man had ever set foot on and witnessed, Man had become very cocky and assumed that they were the first creatures created by God. God found this to His advantage, because he did not want to deal with a rebellion caused by Man if he actually found out the real reason why God created him. After all, how is Man supposed to know what had happened before he came into existence? However, after Eve ate the apple from the Tree of Knowledge, she knew God's terrible plan and was punished for it.

Some Christians are known as Theistic Evolutionists meaning that they believe God created the world and everything in it but since then, things have evolved hence the theory of evolution. They usually do believe in Jesus & all the same things as most fundamental Christians except for this one area.

-Its not impossible. If God chose to create the world as such why not? If you believe in evolution that does not necessarily mean you do not believe in what the bible has said. The bible says that for example, man is one of the last, if not the last living organism created by God. By evolution and carbon dating, we ARE in fact one of the last. Fishes, according to the bible, appeared before the mammals. Yes, it is true that they did.

-Here is the Church's take on evolution. It is obviously not the orig. document written hundreds of years ago as the Vaticans statement long long ago is probably pages long so here's the bottom line;

The Church does not endorse any theory of evolution, but she has not condemned all of them. Catholics are still free to interpret the creation accounts literally.

The Church maintains that the spirit cannot evolve (obviously). Thus, properly speaking, human beings cannot be evolved. The Church does allow for the possibility, however, that the material part of human beings could have developed over time through God's guidance.

- *thank you very much to dylanschrader of forums.catholic.com for putting this issue straight.

Some Christians believe that God made evolution happen over time. So God wound up the earth like a clock and then left it to evolve by itself.

I dont believe this theory because the Bible says that God made man in his image. Do you really think that God is a monkey?

stick it to the man! Ok to 'justsomeguy' Are they the only theories you can think of? There once was a theory that the world was flat, and it was taught as a truth, just as evolution is in our world today, it is only a theory like you said mate! Relativity is a proven theory, evolution aint! Remember what happened when they proved it? hmmmm!
Back to the question, when 'Christians' believe in both it is an oxymoron, and it shows that they dont have a very deep understanding of the word, and deep faith!
Good question, im sure your gonna get some interesting responses!

well, good question

I'm a cgristian and very happy about my personal relationship with Christ

Evolution in some aspects is proven science, other areas - like development of humans - are conjecture/speculation.

I do belive that proper science has a place in our belive systems and faith. I n my opinion beliveing in science and proven evolution doesn't contradict the bible and God's creation.

I always ask some simple questions to make it easier:
1) What was before and around the "Big Bang" ?
2) If Chimpanzee and reptile and human DNA is sooo similar and only differs in a few percentage points, how come we are so different in reality ?

Anyway, God made us, end of story.

God Bless you

I agree with you, but understand that not every Christian is in the same place in his or her walk as you are. Here's how it breaks down:
There are Christians who believe in the literal 6 day creation model as told in Genesis and do not believe the theory of Evolution; they are called Young Earth Creationists.
There are Christians who believe in the creation model but think that a "day" as described in Genesis can mean several thousand years and they are not sure if Evolution is the tool that God used or not. They are called Old Earth Creationists.
And lastly there are Christians who believe that Genesis should be liberally translated and that perhaps God used Evolution as a tool to bring about humanity. This is called Theistic Evolution.
