I saw a study in which bottled water and tap water were tested against each other for purity. The bottled water had absolutely no health advantage whatsoever since it contained the same impurities as the tap water.
What it does, however, is pollute the environment, not only thought the millions of plastic bottles that get thrown away (let's face it - only a very small percentage get recycled), but in the process it takes to make the plastic bottles and all the pollutants required to fly the stuff all over the world.
Yes, it's convenient, but is it really worth what we're doing to our planet?

Believe it or not, a lot of studies have shown that, depending on where you live and your water source, some tap water is better than bottled water!
So really it depends on your tap water...what the iron, mercury and other trace elements amount to, and how much bacteria is in it.
There are also different kinds of bottled water.
Purified water is basically your tap water run through a filter, to help filter out contaminants.
Spring water actually comes from springs.
Some bottled waters have added salt, sugar and flavoring.
There are a lot of variables here!

There is a ton-a difference, only nothing whatsoever to suggest its any better for you, well, other than perhaps those considerations to the county the tap is placed.
So anyone fancy the challenge then? Chemicals in good water verses bottled water, the dangers! Don't think so. its all about taste and personal preference. For your health though, nah, nothing.

Yes. There is a difference between bottled water, well water, and city water (tap water).

Bottled water is just more convient, unless of course you live in an area w/o regular running water and filtration systems! Some studies show tap water is actually better for you b/c of the added floride. (Helps strengthen teeth enamel!) Plus, w/bottled water you are helping pollute our earth even more by waste (plastic bottle). Save yourself a buck and grab a glass.

Nearly all bottled and public tap water contains dissolved substances. However, the water can’t contain more than allowable levels of any given substance.
FDA rules for bottled water don’t apply to water that is packaged and sold within the same state. These waters are unregulated in most states.
Bottled water is not necessarily safer than your tap water. EPA sets standards for tap water provided by public water systems; the Food and Drug Administration sets bottled water standards based on EPA's tap water standards. Bottled water and tap water are both safe to drink if they meet these standards, although people with severely compromised immune systems and children may have special needs." (http://www.epa.gov/safewater/faq/faq.html)
According to a four-year scientific study by the Natural Resources Defense Council, bottled water sold in the U.S. is not necessarily cleaner or safer than most tap water.
Bottled water is tested less frequently than tap water for bacteria and chemical contaminants.
The regulatory standards for several chemicals in bottled water are also weaker than the standards for tap water. For example, FDA has refused to set standards or treatment techniques for acrylamide, asbestos, di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), or epichlorohydrin, all of which EPA regulates in tap water
