I assume you're talking about companies coming in and interviewing you for employment. It varies by the interviewer and I used to go out and interview people and the questions were never scripted. I would tell them about the company. When I interviewed for a job, some asked technical questions some did not. I recall one guy from Bell Labs who said "OK, you have 50 minutes; tell me about yourself."
