There are a ton of products used in and around buildings, and most of them are fairly toxic to humans. Insecticides are much more toxic to humans than herbicides are, so be careful. Fipronil is a new pesticide that is incredibly toxic, and used around buildings. A lot of pyrethroids (a class of pesticides) are used, and again, are very toxic to humans. I would suggest Integrated Pest Management which uses least toxic methods that are effective none-the-less. check out the University of California, Davis's website at http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu .
