I'm not a jehovah witness but the reason i'm asking is one family is and very devoted, but i feel that you believe in God and he made you a certain way there's no reason why you should get all these surguries, isn't that kinda flaunting in a certain way, and isn't that forbidden by the watchtower?

The bible teaches that a Christian must be more concerned with his godly qualities than with his physical qualities. However, neither the bible nor Jehovah's Witnesses forbids cosmetic surgery or treatments.

(1 Peter 3:3,4) And do not let your adornment be that of the external braiding of the hair and of the putting on of gold ornaments or the wearing of outer garments, but let it be the secret person of the heart in the incorruptible apparel of the quiet and mild spirit, which is of great value in the eyes of God.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not discourage their adherents from buying any cookies; many Witnesses are happy to buy 'Girl Scout Cookies' each year.

I personally would not get a breast implant etc...unless I had to have a breast removed due to cancer. I still might not do it.

I feel it is putting to much importance on your physical looks, and breast size should not be a big deal and a husband should not make his wife feel that it so important that they would go through a painful surgery.

I do have a sister who had a breast reduction, which was paid by her insurance due to her back pains.

As far as tummy tuck, botox, I think your putting too much importance on your looks. We can eat right and exercise to stay healthy and younger looking, but we all grow old and we will get young again in the new system.

Of course, that is my personal view on the matter. It would be up to each individual to make the decision for themselves. I do know some who have had all the above mentioned done. That was their choice.

I buy Girl Scout cookies ever once in a while, but I don't really know anything about Girl Scouts.

You are allowed to use your sound judgement and do what you want as long as you are not breaking any scriptural laws. I know a lady that got breast implants. The only thing is, she used blood alternatives during the surgery.

The girl scout cookie thing is a conscious matter. Since some feel that you are supporting local churches. Personally, I like girl scout cookies a whole lot, and buy them occassionally.

Edit: Oh ok. Yeah, I wouldn't personally recommend getting any type of physical altering surgeries unless there is a health risk involved. You shouldn't put focus on yourself, but on the glory of God. Boasting and pride are counseled against in the Bible. As a Jehovah's Witness, I follow the Bible, not the Watchtower. And in the Watchtower, you can always find scriptures to back things up.

Firstly, We ALL have free will. So we can do anything humanly possible. Whether or not it is within the life of a Witness to do so is up to her. It is a matter of personal conscience. There are many scriptural principles telling us that we need to be mostly concerned with being spiritually beautiful, but on the other hand there may be some who have such an overwhelming desire to be augmented that it helps them feel better about themselves. I think the biggest principle to think about is, :How would this action affect my relationship with Jehovah"

Some choose to not buy GS cookies due to religous/political affiliations.

Please understand that our beliefs are BIBLE based, not Watchtower based. The Watchtower is designed as an aid in studying the Bible.

Um...breast implants/tummy tucks and other forms of plastic surgery...Why would anyone want to artificially change they're appearance in the 1st place? Everyone is created differently and some people just won't be endowed with the same type of lips, breasts, butts, etc. as others.

Of course, I'm sure there are allowances for plastic surgery to correct serious deficiencies and abnormalities, but we (as God's children, so I'm including everybody) are not to pay undue attention to our outside appearance and alter it by means of surgery.

Girl Scout cookies...I'll have 2 get back 2 u on that 1.

I am a witness of Jesus, so I don't know the exact answers to these today. Because of the nature of their "new light", things that were true yesterday will not be true today and vice versa. Plastic surgery like you describe in the past was regarded as "creature worship" which is something that the elders despise.

buying the cookies is 'discouraged' but wouldnt you be embarrased if an elder dropped by to chat and you were caught munching on a box of thin mint gs cookies? really its more than just discouraged or else this person wouldnt be asking the question to begin with. they got the idea that it is pretty much prohibited from somewhere, right?
