Eventhough for the first 18 years of my life, I was in church literally every time the doors were open...and eventhough I still attend church now and study the scriptures, and pray regularly and seek God's face...eventhough I have spent countless hours on my knees asking God's direction on sexuality etc...

I have never heard the Adam and Steve analogy...I have never read all of these scriptures you quote...they must have been hidden by the devil...thank you for pointing them out..I am changed.

So, I am going to leave my 17 year gay relationship and marry a woman...of course she has to be subjective to me, the man...if she is not, I will just divorce, repent and try it again with a new woman.

I am going to leave my progressive Methodist church and find a good fundamentalist one...

I am going to quit my volunteer work with dialysis patients and at the food bank...and paint a sign and go protest at abortion clinics and gay pride parades.

I am going to quit loving everyone, and only love those that believe as I do..because obviously, I am the ultimate authority on scripture now that I have seen the light...I am perfect now that I am like you....

Thank you.

Of course the light that you see is not serious in what you say, as the utterance of your foolish remarks are nothing but an ignorant token of a feeble mind.

NO NO NO!!!! Stop! Wait a minute. Please listen: I am a christian, and straight (married with a daughter). I DO NOT believe that sexuality is a choice! If you love this person you've been with for 17 YEARS then you need to stay with him! I do not think it is ANYONE'S business to tell people how they are supposed to love each other! THAT is not right! I think its great that you have a good relationship with God, and I know about the scriptures against homosexuality (yadda yadda yadda). But honey: please keep in mind that the Bible is written by MAN inspired by GOD. So please give this some more thought before you jump into or out of anything! If you would like to talk more, feel free to email me! I'm a school teacher, so Im at work right now (lol), but I can get back to you! Best of luck and may you be blessed with whatever decision you make.

How sad, that you have experienced whatever you did and are resentful and angry. I don't blame you. But don't put it on God. He loves us all, no matter what, but He does not accept certain behaviors, such as practicing homosexuality or murdering, or stealing or any other sin. They are sins. That you feel hurt and unloved is not God's doing but mans'. As Christians we are not to judge others, like demonstrating in front of a abortion clinic because that is not what Jesus did. He did not go and protest, he simply loved and taught about God's love. We are to love and help one another in the faith, living godly lives, but also to correct each other in a loving way should one go astray. Marry a woman if God leads you to that. Don't you think He sees the works you do in His name? He does and He knows your needs and will reward you for that. That's the hope we have, not whether my neighbor agrees with me or not. But I want to tell you, that if you do all these works believing in God and being a born again Christian, then you would also want to obey God's commands. I have felt often like getting a divorce and starting over, but God hates divorce and I will not do it. I will continue to pray for my marriage and be a godly woman.

I only wish I had the courage to follow you.

I will print your question and distribute copies of it to my friends and neighbours to show them what a true Hero is.

Even as I write, tears of admiration are rolling down my cheeks.

You are a far, far better man than I could ever hope to be, and I salute you!

(Was that anywhere near as good and sarcastic as your work? I did try. Thanks for making me laugh. Sometimes parody is just what R&S needs).
