here is a website that has a list of custom tattoo artists from all over the country. there are a few in houston i think. check out their tattoos and see what you think. i think that custom tattoo artists are generally better than ones that do only flash or only pictures brought in with the customer.

Or look around the city at people who do have great tattoos complement them on their tattoo and find out where they got theirs and who did it. When you get to the shop check out their portfolio and see how good they are. Now if you are getting something avereage like a heart or a tribal goofyness it really does not matter where you go as long as they look clean. Other wise if you are getting something cool (NOT TRIBAL OR ANOTHER LANGUAGE) or custom make sure you check out the person's portfolio and have them sketch it before they put it on your body.

I would check out my local tattoo scene. Most collectors are ready and willing to let you know who they like/trust to do their ink. Go into some shops and look through some portfolios. That never hurts either.
