i'm looking at taking a morning shift, 5 am till 1 pm at the international terminal at dfw, the american airlines club and serving cocktails, but i'm curious to ask if you think this is a bad idea or do people have cocktails before 1 pm/tip the server/ thanks

I will tell you that if people are ordering 1 drink at a time you will likely get $1 a drink. If they are ordering two, you might get $1 or you might get $2. You also might ust get the next highest bill and be told to keep the change.

Also, if you are serving corporate types and they use a credit card, they consistently tip 20% across the board.

I don't think tips will be the issue, I think if you worry about anything, worry about the number of customers. I'm not a flier so I don't know how many people drink at that time, but it seems to me like it would be less. Though I'm sure there are plenty of nervous fliers looking to calm their nerves.

My God, that would be my perfect shift! OK, bear in mind that the people are rich or on the company dime. They'll be drinking! And I bet you'll serve plenty of bloody marys and beer. I always have to have a drink before flying, that way I can fall asleep on the plane. The drinks are overpriced, but I still leave a buck a drink.

That schedule can be good, as you get the early lunch crowd. And besides, when traveling many people drink at all hours of the day. The important thing to consider is how much traffic the airport gets. Is it a AA hub? If it is then you will have a lot more AA folks on layovers, more drinking and more tips.

Many people who fly do have drinks before 1, my husband does to calm his nerves...he hates to fly. I usually tip a dollar if I'm ordering one or two drinks...If I stay and order more he tip goes up.
Why not go in and see what goes on during that shift or ask the current server if he or she makes any money in the morning.

Can't drink all day unless you start in the morning!
I usually tip $1.00 per drink.

I think that they should tip a couple of bucks, and the people before me are right, so um combine all of their answers.
