Diazepam is a benzodiazepine which is a class of drug that act on the brain and the nerves of the central nervous system to produce a calming effect. It works by enhancing the effects of a certain natural chemicals in the body (GABA).

It is used to treat anxiety, acute alcohol withdrawal, seizures, relieve muscle spasms, extremely bad night terrors, and sedation before medical procedures.

Side effects include- hypersensitivity, drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, constipation, blurred vision, and headache

Interactions include- fluvoxamine, sodium oxybate, antacids, certain anti-depressants (fluoxetine, nefazodone), cimetidine, clozapine, digoxin, disulfiram, kava, levodopa.

you should contact your doctor and tell him or her about anything else that you might be taking before taking diazepam. (over the counter medications and herbal supplements too!)

oh, one thing i forgot! avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice!! it increases the amount of medication in your blood stream!

Diazepam, is a type of Benzodiazepine used as a sedative for anxiety. It increases GABA receptors in the brain, resulting in a decrease of anxiety and gives you a calming effect!!! ;)

It`s a benzodiazepine. It is anxyolytic and a sedative.
