Why do you care? If your ex is interested in her, he is under no obligation to share that information with you and it is none of your business.
If he told his friend, your boyfriend, that information in confidence, you boyfriend was not right in sharing that information with you and breaking his confidence to his friend and that might why he said no so quickly and changed the subject when you asked him as he felt his friend betrayed him by telling you. Your boyfriend may have broken his friend's confidence to get your reaction to see if you were still interested in your ex, his friend. As you are asking on this forum, it sounds like you still are.
