Isn't it a rather unchristian thing to wish on someone?

When someone doesn't believe in hell, do they really think it bothers them to be told they're going to burn in some place that doesn't exist?

If God were real, wouldn't he want to have a serious word with people who wish something like that on others?

First of all, as a Christian, we beleive that Christ wishes the return of a sinner, not in his punishment nor death. He's anxious for the return of the sinner. So as sinful christians, how then can we be anxious for anyone to burn in hell. Theologically speaking, its wrong.

In the Bible, its clear that we will be judged according to the mercy we have shown others; so wishing anyone to go to hell is not only judging, but a great loss in mercy. As much mercy as I've shown to others, the same will be shown to me on Judgement day.

Now, the final part of your question: what if you don't really believe in hell? What happens?

All I can tell you, as a Christian, is that unless you are baptised, you cannot go to heaven. Impossible. That's why, in most Orthodox Churches, and even centuries ago in the Catholic Churches, EVERY child was baptised 40 days after birth: in case a child died during this critical period, it was too much risk.

I don't know what happens to those who are not baptised. Its a hard question.

Im so sorry.

My friend, you make the mistake of believing that everyone that calls themselves Christian are Christian. A Christian cannot want any person to burn in hell. We pray for the unbelievers. We go out of our way to tell them about Jesus. We spend our money to give them books or buy them Bibles.
We befriend them first. It is very unChristian to wish "burning in hell" on someone. We try to snatch unbelievers out of the fires of hell, because the Bible clearly speaks of hell. On this forum quite often we don't even know who is typing in info. God clearly states as we judge so shall we be judged. We all definitely need more love in our hearts.

Dude that is the last thing I would wish on anyone. A true christian would never wish that on an atheist. However remember that just because you don't believe in something doesn't mean it doesn't exist, and God probably wouldn't be too happy with a statement like that because atheists are still His creation and He still loves them deeply and He wants them to believe out of faith.

First off, have you seen the quality of television programs recently? It'd drive some people to seek entertainment anywhere...
Bothered? Nah. Just another 'monsters under the bed' story. I grew out of that nonsense years ago.
Real or no, the kind of people that go round making threats like that are the kind of people that think they're already forgiven, so it doesn't matter what they do.
A really good advertisement for "Christian Morality", don't you think?

I am not a religious person - i agree with your statement.

So many of the religious fanatics, zealots and bigots, who show their ignorance, intolerance, biased opinions and their racism on this site on a daily basis - seem to have forgotten what the true meaning of the religious texts and various religious books that they so often quote actually mean and what they truly represent - so according to their own behavior and actions and words, THEY are the one's that will face the wrath of God, the final days and go to HELL instead of those of us who are or try tobe more liberal, honest, open minded and fair.

I'd like to meet the Christians your talking about, they truly need to be taken aside and lectured. It is not our wish to watch people "burn in hell;" quite the opposite in fact. God places a burden on our hearts to express his great love to others through us. The last thing we want to see is people damned for all eternity, our mission is to try and save people from such a fate. Whoever has told you otherwise is not a Christian at all.

We are not so , all we want if only each sinner would except Jesus as their personal savior and live free from sins. and tell others of his wonderful works. NO ONE WILL BURN IN HELL IF WE LIVE RIGHT IN THE SIGHT OF GOD.

Are you anxious to see someone go through any as horrific as hell? Of course not. Neither are Christians.
God doesn't want even one to perish in hell. Not one.
We know that the way out of hell, is free! And who doesn't want a bargain? I can't pass a clearance rack without taking a peek.
So to get heaven and a ticket out of hell for FREE. What a great deal... and I didn't even have to use a coupon.
Jesus did it all for me.

I hope you believe in God one day, and understand.

Be blessed, vicki

Christians should not be anxious to watch people "burn in hell". Nor should they tell people to do so. It is un-Christian and as you say, against everything our religion stands for. These people who say this do not deserve to be called Christians. I think when Jesus comes back He will say to them: "Depart from me, I never knew you."

We all fall short from the glory of God. Now you see why we need Jesus to save us.

God does not want anyone to burn in hell. If you do, you did not choose to be with God in heaven. Do not lbame anyone else. : )
