i know someone and he said he copies all his dvd for his personal use. he'll never buy another dvd again in his life. he just goes and rent them and thats it.

Movies are become more encrypted, I have found the best place to start is Ripit4me it is free, but you have to have dvd decrypter (free), dvd shrink (free) and nero. Ripit4me will walk you through everything and will open and close all other programs that it uses when it is done.

I use DVDShrink to make backup copies of my DVDs. It works very well and creates an exact copy. If you have Nero installed (even the demo), it will burn it for you too.
