It's where the husband rules the household and may spank his wife when needed.

I believe Christian domestic discipline is the way things are intended to be. DD was going on in Jesus' times (not called DD, of course), yet He didn't speak against it. There is nowhere in the Bible where authority is given without the means to back it up, and the husband is given authority in several places. He even has to answer for the ones under his authority. Why would it be fair for him to be responsible for them is he has no means to enforce his authority? Physical punishment is not condemned in any place in the Bible and it is not limited to children. God even says those He loves He rebukes and chastens. The marriage relationship is supposed to mirror God's relationship with the Church. In the Bible discipline is only spoken of in good terms, never bad. People today have the wrong idea that physical discipline is abuse when nothing could be further from the truth. Physical discipline is GOOD when it is merited. I believe a husband should be loving and sacrificial toward his wife, but I believe he can choose to spank her as one tool in leading his household. Since the woman is a Christian, too, and should be trying to please God and her husband, hopefully spanking for punishment will be rare. In our home, it might happen once or twice a year.

Your wording is funny... but I think that Christians live just fine. I am Christian and therefore know many Christians whose households are very loving and inviting.

In another sense of "domestic discipline" I think that Christians tend to make more of an effort to abstein from fornication and un-holy domestic relations. Didnt say all of them, but many of them. Because Christianity is one of the few faiths that stress that sex before marriage is un-holy.

Wives submit to their husbands as husbands submit to their wives. Many Christian wives will take the back seat and let their husbands be the leader, but there is a respect. Abuse is the contrary to Christianity.

I hope I understand what it is you are asking so if I seem like I am out in left field sorry. I personally think if we had more Christian discipline in our homes we would not have children who are so disrespectful, vulgar and violent. The head of the household is to be the father. He is to seek wisdom and instruction from CHRIST the center of the family to see that his children are reared in a manner consistent with the teachings of the bible. In todays society many homes are without a male to guide them so the mother must asume the role seeking all wisdom from GOD to instruct and discipline her children. The children are taught respect, love, kindness and about GOD. The discipline imparted by a GOD fearing and believing man/woman is done with authority and compassion and love. GOD admonishes us to discipline our children and not spoil them. So the father tells the child what he/she has done wrong and applies the appropriate consequence. That may mean a trip to the "wood shed to apply the hand of knowledge to the seat of education until it reaches the brain" or it may mean a time out, or reading appropriate scripture to instil knowledge of sin. In no way does GOD encourage beating a child. He encourages discipline. Spanking is not beating when applied with love and instruction and it is applied with open hand to the padded buttox. My children were disciplined from early on with gentle taps followed by the word no. As they grew to say 10 they received very few if any spankings. From 10 on discipline was applied by instruction and removal of privileges.
