Select the text by holding down the left mouse button while going over it and click on the B symbol in the Button tray.
If you want to do it from your keyboard, put the cursor at the start of the passage of text you want to convert to bold, hold down the shift button on the keyboard and use the navigation button to cover the text. Now that it's highlighted, do ctrl+B.
Cheers!

In Microsoft Word, select the text and click the B button in the Formatting Toolbar.
For example, you want to bold the word am in "I am happy." Have your cursor point at the point exactly behind the first a, drag your cursor to the end of m, then release. Afterwards, click the B button in the Formatting Toolbar, usually on top of the workplace. it should be bold now. In case you can't find the button, make sure the Formating Toolbar is actually present. Right click a space under the bar which has "File", point to Toolbar, then check Formatting.

On the menu bar, a "B" is there. simply select the text which you want to highlight, take the mouse pointer at "B" and click the mouse button. your job is done.
