Why is it, that when we don't take some Christian's sillier questions seriously, they seem to think that it is due to "anger" or "unhappiness" on our part?

Are they being patronising, or self-righteous, or smug?

Or is it simply a total lack of a sense of humour?

JUST READ IT ONCE.

OK, I accept that is not the most amusing answer I have ever given - but I found the response a little bizarre.

Maybe it's just me.

I guess they are hoping you are unhappy or angry... then they could say they're being persecuted or being treated unfairly (Whoever told these people that life was fair - needs their *** kicked)

Frankly i feel people who feel they are that close to God and want to make others feel guilty because they have not seen the light yet feel bad should take a good hard look at themselves. Most people who brag about being Christians will not lift a finger to help others. I believe in doing and not preaching. I do not laugh at people who are Christians but i also do not want to be preached at 24/7. I feel more good can be done by the so/called Christians should they put more effort into giving a helping hand instead of preaching to others. It is self-righteousness the way they act all smug and so sure that there is a place for them in 'Heaven'. I think some of them will be very surprised to find those they ridicule and class as evil greeting them in the entrance of 'Heaven'.

I have a friend who is an atheist and whom I see maybe twice a year. I am a believer. When we do get together, we don't debate religion or anything of that nature. We have a good time and tell nasty jokes real loud in resteraunts so we can annoy people. It's quite fun and we make a real mess for our hostess. He's quite fun to be with and I look forward to seeing him again in a couple months. We grew-up together. A believer and an atheist who like to see who can make the other shoot milk out their nose first in a public place. Imagine that.

No. A valid criticism of someone is not in itself self-righteousness. How would it be? Regardless, there's certainly much more to self righteousness than thinking your morals are better than other people's. Self righteousness is all that and an ugly yet completely unnecessary and misplaced arrogance.

I call myself a Christian and I beleive God has a sense of humor. Just know that maybe the question that you think is silly might be very serious to the person asking.

They might just have been offended by the light nature of how you took their question.

Many Christians can't imagine what it's like to NOT be a Christian, and that's reflected in their questions and answers on here. So yes, to you it would seem that they're being patronizing, self-righteous or smug...because perhaps they ARE.
I've found some of those same attitudes amongst my fellow Christians myself. They do have good intentions though, and most of them are here not to convert people, but to UNDERSTAND. Don't blame them if they have trouble with it. They just can't imagine what it's like to not be a Christian.

people are all different -

its great to have - sometimes very silly, provocative or even outright stupid - Q&A's here on yahoo, it allows for exchange and communication.

I find it very interesting to read some of them and yes, there is a lot of lack of sensibility and self righteuousness out there, but

- we are all just human
- we are all egotistic and think too much about us
- we all need to face ourselves and that is not always great

God Bless you

Maybe a mixture of those things, although just 'cos you think somethings silly doesnt mean that everyone feels the same way.

I can only speak for myself. I find no humor in poking fun at my religious preferences. Atheists don't find much fun in people poking fun at them either, so I don't feel that I am more sensitive than the Atheists are.

For me my religion is a personal relationship with God and His Son Jesus, the Christ.

Poking fun at that relationship would be like poking fun at my relationship with my lovely wife.

As a serious christian, I am totally offended by most of the non-christian remarks on here. I pray to god for the strength to deal with your heresy, and god tells me to rest easy for he will return soon and the wrongs will be set to right, and those who mock him will be smote like Steve Irwin.
