Your son would of had to be born in 2006 in order for you to claim him when filing your return this year. If he was born in December 2006--you can claim him!

If born before 01/01/2007 you can claim for 2006. Ever heard the expression New Years Baby. Those born on Dec 31. Parents get to claim for the entire year

As long as he was born in 2006, he can be claimed as a dependent for 2006 and the person claiming him gets all the benefits for a full year.

Your taxes are for the year 2006. If it didn't happen in 2006 then except for a very few things (like being able to make an IRA contribution for 2006 up to tax filing dead line -April 17, 2007) you can't.

If he was born on over before January 1, 2007, you can claim him - (they give you a break for the extra day) - but from Jan 2, on, no you cannot claim him until next year.

If he was born last year, you can claim him. If he was born this year, you have to wait.
