hmm i wont go on about the usual benefits (healthy, stay in shape, etc.)

Teenagers go through puberty, so for example if you wanna grow taller, play basketball because this is the time where you will grow more.

I did not research on this, but just said it out of common sense :D

1. Exercise is ESSENTIAL. Without proper exercise, teenagers will likely develop obesity problems, and this could lead to diabetes and heart disease.

2. Team sports teach teamwork and social skills. Individual sports teach self-discipline. Both teach the value of hard work. These are essential skills for when they are in the "real" world.

3. Sports teach a child how to deal with winning gracefully and coping with losing, also essential skills for when they are in the "real" world.

exercise---the best thing going on

teamwork---learning how to be supportive and be supported by your peers.

getting a work ethic---knowing how to put forth an effort on a constant and consistant basis

sportsmanship---or sportspersonship---learning how to be a good winner, and a good loser

in Japan, the loser is expected to say something like---it is right that you won, because you are better than me

the winner is supposed to say, "I was lucky."

The benifit is that they wont be strugling with there wight when they get older and they will have a happer life for the rest of there life. also sports is a good anti drug thing.

Well, first they learn more about their body, they learn to make sacrifices, to be discipline, to talk with everybody even from different religion, country, race or any other differences. They learn how to lose and that sometimes you need to lose in order to learn more about yourself.
They understand their limits and it's very healthy.
