Other relationships that exist today within the Earnhardt clan were forged generations ago. Junior's crew chief (and uncle), Tony Eury Sr., remembers watching his father, Ralph Eury, race against Ralph
Earnhardt. The rivalry became a friendship after the elder Eury came to the Earnhardts to fix a home radiator, and the conversation turned to racing. Earnhardt was racing dirt-track cars out of the garage that still stands next to the family homestead at Coach and Sedan streets. When Eury moved up a racing class, Earnhardt built his engines, and their sons played and wrestled while the fathers worked and raced.
"We didn't run well enough to race for food," Tony Eury Sr. says. "My daddy was a plumber. We were all just weekend warriors. And when Ralph (Earnhardt) died in 1973, my father lost all interest in racing."
By then the die had been cast. The Earnhardts and Eurys were intertwined, and Dale Earnhardt and Tony Eury had begun their own dirt-racing careers.
When he was 18, Earnhardt was married and the father of a son, Kerry. Earnhardt worked at garages and in a textile factory to support his family and racing habit. After a divorce, Earnhardt began dating Brenda Gee, the daughter of well-known car builder Robert Gee.
At some point, Earnhardt mentioned to Tony Eury that Brenda had a good-looking sister named Sandra. Sure enough, Earnhardt married Brenda and Eury married Sandra. Both marriages ended in divorce, but the next generation of racers--Kelley Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Eury Jr.--was born. The racing heritage of those children is mind-boggling. A brief example:
Kelley and Dale Jr. regularly visited Granddaddy Gee with their mother. Later, as a relationship grew between twice-divorced Dale and Teresa Houston, the children gathered with Teresa's father, Hal, a racecar driver, and his brother, Tommy Houston, a Hickory Motor Speedway track champion.

They were cousins. That's because Tony Eury Sr. has a son Tony Jr. Dale Jr. is also a son of Brenda Jackson, who was married to Dale Earnhardt Sr. and divorced. They also had a daughter name Kelley King.

Dale's mom (Brenda) and Tony's mom are sisters. Dale Sr and Tony Sr were friends/raced together before they married a pair of sisters.

I don't think he has Asperger's. He could be hyperactive, hyperactive people do adrenaline things like race cars. I think he's just shy and may not have wanted that girlfriend public, regardin' what the question mentioned. His personality may not have clicked with his crew chief at the time of the question. He was good with his crew chief before that time, people say. I have Asperger's, btw.
