I did some research for a friend of mine who is brainless, I am under the impression that the 1.8 litre engine, turbocharged, has had a lot of issues with oil sludge. To the Douchebag below (the one)...it is 2009, what dummy is going to buy a used (1993-1997) volkswagen that is that old.

Anything except a Proton is better than any French Car. As for your VW apart from a Opel the Germans view them as budget cars. They are nothing special.

Well I would say its a matter of taste, German cars do tend to be quite solid and reliable but some of the Frenchies are real good fun to drive for much less money.

Because it is:
Less stylish
More dull
Less well equipped
More dull
Less safe in an accident than a Renault
More dull
More overpriced
More dull
Heavier, for no good reason
More dull
Less reliable than its Skoda cousins
More dull
and to cap all that, its rather spiffingly dull.

Pal, I don't know what kind of VW you have, but the other day I saw a Citroen (C2) stopping to help a broken-down VW (Passat) on the side of the road.....
