So did you pay yet, or not?

If you've paid, show him the receipt (proof of mailing, returned check, banks statement, whatever), and tell him to go home. He'll call home to confirm, and home will call loan company to confirm.

If you haven't paid, then you really don't have much choice but to give him the car, unless you want him to show up in the middle of the night with a tow truck.

However, you usually have 30 days to get it back, AFTER you pay a bunch of penalties and storage fees and whatnot. And you'll probably have to Western Union transfer the funds to the loan company, and get a confirmation number, PLUS a number on their side so the repo company can confirm the order to release the car back to you. You may also need to go to local PD to get another release.

I had a friend who accidentally forgot to pay his car payments (it's like the last 2 ever!) and his van was towed. To get it back, he had to go to call the company, got a Western Union acct number, go to Western Union, put $$$ plus fee to transfer amount to loan company via WU, call company again to confirm they received it, call again to confirm the repo company STILL have the car, call company to make sure they told the repo company to release it. Then go to PD to get a "tow release" s the repo company notified that this car is being repoed, not stolen, and now it needs to be cancelled. Then he had to have a friend (me) drive him over there (it's 75 miles away, in the middle of nowhere), find the place, confirmed the loan place told them to release it, pay another $200+ for various towing and storage fees to repo, and finally got the keys to go.

weel that really depends..... if u r only 13 days since your last payment well i would think not but if u r 13 days past your payment date then u r actually 43 days late and the bank has the right to repo your van on the grounds of faliure to pay according to your contract. If you call the people who own the title to your car(bank loan shark etc.) and explain to them why u r late they are normaly very accomadating especially if this is your first time. If you see someone trying to take your van go out there and tell them that they are causing a disturbance and that u r calling the police. I have heard that repo compaines do not want to get involved with the police so they will leave the area quickly. Also do not believe anythig that comes out of a repo persons mouth....they make money by delivering the car not delivering you the facts. So be proactive with calling the bank and parking your van where the repo man can not get to your car...a garage and school parking lot church etc until u get things worked out..... Good Luck

Yes they can repo because of lack of payment. Happened to me--in fact a friend had just wired me the payment because I was having problems that month--and when I went out to get in my car--gone! I even called the cops because I thought the car had been stolen. Boy was I embarassed when they told me it was repod! (they must register with the local cops that they will be repo-ing the vehicle. If they don't they could face charges of theft and trespassing!
Call the car dealer and tell them whatever excuse you had about paying the payment late and ever so politely ask them what you need to do in order to get the van back. Then do it!
You may even save you credit if you act quickly enough (before they report it on your credit report) The company just wants its money!
Oh by the way-they will sell your vehicle at an auction and you will still be liable for the difference in how much is owed (with towing and storage costs) and how much they sell the vehicle for. Gets yourself together and don't let it go!

Yes, he can take your van. Washington follows UCC 9-609, which allows him to repossess without judicial process after your breach for nonpayment as long as it does not disrupt the peace. Your contract terms (financing contract) will deal with what constitutes breach. Read this carefully; it may be possible that a single failure to pay constitutes breach.

It occurred to me. And the repo guy replaced right into a superb adequate guy, yet reclaiming it replaced right into a nightmare. as quickly as the financial business enterprise places out know reposession (normally 60-ninety days) it quite is close to impossible to sidestep it. whether....a chum of mine did this: He overnighted with a monitoring huge sort the stability due in a funds order it is taken care of as funds (he begged from dad and mom, acquaintances, relatives individuals). He parked his motor vehicle in a diverse area and have been given a experience to artwork the next day. so as that they could no longer take the motor vehicle whilst at artwork. as quickly as he have been given in he tracked the money order and who signed for it. pronounced as the financial business enterprise and stated he had information of signature, that it replaced into despatched as funds, and apologized that he hadn't been in touch, that he replaced into dealing with a coarse time in my view. He stated he theory he would desire to be "close" to being repo'd so he needed to make effective that that did no longer happen. through fact the financial business enterprise have been given the money earlier the repo have been given the motor vehicle he replaced into secure. The financial business enterprise rep stated - good element you paid via funds order - through fact they might have waited for a examine to sparkling. in case you like a funds order a 24hour Wal-Mart has them. in case you will desire to deliver in one day ask for "Early AM transport" and despite the value pay it. as quickly as the repo guy takes the motor vehicle you will would desire to pay a towing value it is so lots greater suitable than $25 in one day value. do no longer bypass close on your motor vehicle till you comprehend for effective the financial business enterprise has stopped the repo and ask the financial business enterprise to fax a reproduction or e mail a be conscious asserting you're paid up. The repo can stake you out and locate out the place it quite is parked....
