Honey... the significance of an engagement is kinda like a promissory(promise), to each other. Or take it as a practice run. Another important point is to not to rush this. An engagement could last weeks, months, or a number of years. That depends on the couple and their patience! Take your time enjoy the love and spending the time together. That's what is important!!!

Engagement is a commitment couples make to each other to learn about each other in a different situation than dating.
Because one person asks another to marry and the other accepts, it is a type of emotional contract. You'd be surprised at how your way of looking at the other person changes when engaged, and when you understand this is a person you are hopefully spending the rest of your life with. Idiocyncracies take on a whole new light with this in mind.
Marriage can take place at any time, but a lot of folks suggest you wait until you are really sure and the romance is not blinding you any more.

You can be engaged for as long as you need. I know some who are engaged for a short time like 3 months and I know some others who have been engaged for 2 years and still have no wedding date set. It all depends on money, time, what else you have going on in your life. A good friend of mine and her high school sweetheart were engaged in their 2nd year of college. She has now finished 4 years and has a few more years to go. They do not want to have the wedding until they are finished with school because that works best for them. Its a personal choice.

Usually 6 months is a good engagement time, but if you have known each other for 3 years, a shorter engagement might be okay. The purpose of the engagement is to prepare for the wedding and to spend more time together to make sure you are compatible.

A man asks you to marry him and you either accept or don't. If you do you can be engaged for as long as you like.

Youll find out by yourself. Just make sure that both of you are more than thirty, arent renting but buying a home and have at leas 20k in savings. This is the process:BF and GF for two years minimum, once they engage one more year for the wedding.

For the last one- it's different for every couple. For the first one- it's sort of a 'hey- we're serious, we're in love and we're going to get married' to the world. A we're off the market, but not yet married.

once you have been engaged, the wedding should take place within 1-2 years.

If you decide to live with someone after the engagement to 'save money for the wedding'.....90% of the time, that wedding will end up being postphoned or cancelled
