My bf just broke up with me bc he feels that he can't do anything for me, which is true. But I don't expect for him to do anything for me. Anyways that was his main reason for breaking up with me and then he basically told me that he doesn't want me to love him. I was already hurt that he broke up with me but the fact that he said that he doesn't want me to love him was even more hurting. And I want opinions as to why he would feel that way.

many times mine wanted to do the same coz of some guilts may be within himself or that he feels he doesn't measure up to me... he wants someone better for me but like you've said, i wasn't asking too much. i just want to love & be loved. he does love me alright but he always have doubts about things around which i come to understand & put up with due to his difficult childhood days. almost five years now and afterall the difficulties, we still manage & he hasn't really left. he said to want to be with me for the rest of his life & i believe him (mainly bcuz i love him) but all long there's a lot of ups & downs brought only by his foolish thoughts but other than that, all things are ok. am sharing you this that it may somehow relates to your own. check if he had encountered difficulties as a growing up child such as divorced, family break ups, beatings.. etc. all these form part of of how people perceive life esp during adulthood. if he did went through some of these, it will give you a better understanding of him, in fact he is doing you a favor by not dragging you to his own miseries. (considering that he can't deal with it yet & who knows when) sometimes it crosses my mind to leave him & it will favor me a lot but i doubt if it will do any better for us.(we will both end up devastated)..afterall, we are managing amidst the hardships.

personally, do not cramp yourself into his life if he refuses. he'll come around it & be back to you if he realizes your importance in his life before you get over him. if not, at least you had moved on & probably found new happiness.

He either has depression, or some serious self esteem problems and doesn't feel like he's worth it. In fact he probably feels like something is wrong with you because you love him. He needs therapy.
