You didn't give us the 'hot features' that you are interested in, nor the price range.
So I'll venture a guess: get a Fuji F20 for about $150usd. Takes great pics, video, etc.
Olympus is good as is Canon, Nikon, Sony and Fuji.
Check out www.dpreview.com where you can tweak with about 40 criteria to fine just the right one for you.

I actually have an Olympus 710. Its super sleek and durable. Takes great pictures. I was going to put it on ebay and craigslist because my hubby just bought a SLR and we don't need them both. Let me know if you are still in the market and near Miami, FL. Good luck!

Olympus is good, but the memory cards aren't that great. Still, good cameras. Canon is excellent, and Sony is good too.

i have an olympus and have been very satisfied with my camera.. never had any problems, the pix are great quality, and the user interface is pretty simple...
ps.. the secret service had the same camera as me when they were by my house to do a warrant... so if the fedz use it for evidence collection i guess its got to be pretty good....
