Yes it can. If you know anyone who regularly goes to church and is a spiritual person, talk to them and I'm sure they will invite you to their church and let you know more about God and his powerful influence in their life. If you don't know anyone like this, then just walk into a local church near you on any day that it is open and their will be someone there to welcome you with smiles and open arms, ask them anything. I'm happy for you, Good Luck with your journey!

Happiness need not come from a religion. Most people only think in terms of religions when it comes to enlightenment. I found happiness in the Tao, self help books, and talking with people that have achieved their goals.
I will cut to the chase here, happiness is a choice. Yes it is that simple but we complicate this process through worry, judgment, and lack of forgiveness. Confront the fact you will die as a process of life without the fear of hell and this will even more settle your mind.
Man have to go through this long convoluted journey before he learns just how simple life really is. Man is creative and all thoughts are creative. Control your emotions, thoughts and intentions and all things will fall into place.
It is not about finding God. It is about finding the real you. God is you and your are essentially part of God as you are a part of you parents but unmistakably separate. Are you know different than your own parents? We are not different than what has created us.
Happiness is love and love is the giving force of the universe. Love yourself unconditionally and happiness will be had with the added benefit of extending the same love to others in the world. Love cannot flow through a God and back to you. It must emanate from you in the form of self love and respect before you can extend if from its center meaning you. This is the great secret but most never fully understand this fact.

Before I tell you how to become a follower of Christ, I need to warn you... God doesn't promise to make everything right. In fact, it may make things harder. That said, I'd take having the company of the Lord over having an easy life any day of the week.
All you have to do is pray. People make it seem like some mystical art form or something, but all you're doing is talking to another personal being. Ask Him to forgive you for the wrongs you have committed and tell Him that you accept Christ as your Lord[authority over your life] and Savior[pardoner of sins]. That's it... you don't have to worry about what's going to happen when you die anymore.

When you become a Christian God the Holy Spirit will come and live inside of you as His holy temple. You can learn to communicate with Holy Spirit who is your Teacher, Counsellor, Comforter and Empoweror and He will teach you and guide you as you study the word of God into the ways of the kingdom. For the kingdom of God is not eating nor drinking but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). You will never be alone for God, the Holy Spirit, is with you forever.

Hello MrsMay. Whatever reason you have for searching for God at this time, please remember that Godly people are not immune to suffering. Many find their own lives "not going too good" at times. As the Bible tells us "time and unforeseen occurrence befall [us] all" (Ecclesiastes 9:11)
Because of this, even true Christians may at times not feel like smiling. But a result of holy spirit in their lives does result in joy, among other positive attributes.(Galatians 5:22-23)This joy is a quality of the heart, a deep sense of satisfaction because of doing what is right and pleasing to God. Experiencing this type of joy alone makes it worthwhile to search for God. But God has promised much more. Jesus taught his followers to pray for God's kingdom.(Matthew 6:10) By means of this kingdom, mankind will experience numerous blessings, including the wiping out of tears of grief and pain.(Revelation 21:3,4) Jehovah's Witnesses would be happy to assist you in your search for God.

You wont find GOD by looking at religious people. Are you sure it's GOD you're looking for or happiness? Not neccessarily mutually exclusive but not exactly the same either. If it's GOD you want look inside yourself and don't settle for anything less that absolute truth and unconditional love Seek and keep on seeking, knock and don't stop knocking, ask away.

I have been in the same situation before and I've always searched for God. The more I looked the more it convinced me that Christianity was real. I always looked for the "truth", and at the end of my pursuit I ended up with Jesus, who also happened to have claimed to be the truth. Don't forget to look to God and not to man, man are faulty. Read the Bible.
God Bless!

If you think religious people are always smiling and happy then you don't mix with the engines of guilt that are Catholics or the paragons of misery that are baptists.
Most Muslims seem quite content though apart from my mate Zuhair who feels guilty when he has a punt on the gee-gees.

It's a false high, but with no major side effects, execpt people may look at you like "really?!"
If you want someone beside you may I suggest a parent, a friend, a man (or girl if you're into that)?

god is everywhere, he is with us all the time. although this may seem crazy try talking to him, almost like a prayer, ask him to guide you toward the straight path or what you are feeling. study religion that you are intereested in. as a muslim reding the qur'an and praying daily gives me an inner peace and you cabn feel the closeness to your creator, when i drift slightly a also feel that connection faltering.
