Unfortunately Christians are often more influenced by the society they live in than they are by the words of the Holy Spirit. In fact, USUALLY when Christians are overly judgmental it is also a product of their society. Whites didn't come to hate blacks in the south because of the Bible, but because of society. They were then quick to take verses out of context to justify their beliefs, although I suspect deep down they knew it was contrary to God's word.
Liberalism is no different. Our society says that we should be accepting of everyone and everything (unless of course when you were 20 you slept with someone that was 17, then you have to let everyone around you know that you are a "pervert" until the day you die - not that I support any form of pedophilia, I just find it an interesting cultural contradiction that sexual predators have to "register" for the remainder of their lives, but murderers and other violent offenders do not). We are taught that we should all have unconditional love for one another -a.k.a. unconditional acceptance. This message seems to especially appeal to Christians. After all, the message of Jesus is one of unconditional love, is it not?
Does God love us unconditionally? Yes. How do we know? He sent Jesus to die on a cross. Are we to love others unconditionally? Yes. How are we to do this? We are to spread the message of Jesus to whites, blacks, homosexuals, murderers and pedophiles alike. We are not to judge them as being unworthy of the forgiveness of Christ, but we are to encourage them to clothe themselves with Christ, and live a life of repentance.
Ah, there is the word that is NOT popular. Repentance. Repentance DOES involve some judging. I can judge that someone's lifestyle is separating them from God. I can judge that they need to repent. I know, I know, take the plank from my own eye before removing your splinter, right? If I am judging you for having a negative attitude while I am known for fits of rage, you might have a point. However, if I am telling you that you need to stop having sex with other men (or women), I am not removing a speck!
I really appreciate you last sentence: These people need to be saved and we can't do that if we just close our eyes and ears and pretend like they're doing nothing wrong. Amen. Christians need to wake up and realize that letting someone commit spiritual suicide IS NOT LOVING THEM.
God bless.
****EDIT****
Since so many people are bringing up "Judge not, lest ye be judged," I feel compelled to comment on that. Judging is not a sin. In fact, the next verse says, "For in the same measure you judge so will you be judged." We ARE to judge. If anyone believe that judging is a sin, then Jesus went to hell. Jesus judged people all the time. We are to judge our actions, AND THE ACTIONS OF OTHERS. However, we are to do this WITH THE PURPOSE OF HELPING ONE ANOTHER. We are to judge in the same way that God judges. We are to recognize sin, and shun it, and recognize sinners and love them. How do we love them, by helping them to realize what their sin is doing to them. Every human being, from Mother Teressa to Hitler, deserves to go to hell. That is why we needed a savior. However, God desires every human being, from Mother Teressa to Hitler, to repent and be forgiven. We should desire that for every human being too. If we are, we are not judging people, but judging what is right and wrong only. That is never a bad thing.

Ok, here is my ramble answer to your question. I have a minister's point of view on the subject, which leads to quite a lot of sinners in today's age. I am also going to explain why homosexuality is not what it was when the bible was written, and then I am going to explain why everyone is trying to persuade you not to judge others.
I once asked my minister this very question, and the answer was this: "Homosexuality is not the main issue. The main issue is that even according to common law, people may not be married to some one of the same sex. They there fore can not indulge in sexual activities because they are not married. There for they are committing the sin of sex before marriage, and that is definitely a sin as stated throughout the bible". Looks like there are many sinners out there, myself included (I am after all an unmarried mother, who has only made a vocal commitment to my fiancé as we can't afford a wedding until I return to work).
Homosexuality was a big issue when the bible was written because it meant there were less babies being born (have you ever noticed that the rules of the bible are designed to make our species populate the earth?). In today’s age, we have more people than necessary - we are over populating the planet. We have countries with laws on how many babies may be born per couple. It does not have the same meaning today.
You say that you don't want to hear about "don't judge" - did you realise judging of others is a sin? So, I could easily pose the question "Do people who judge homosexuals go to hell?" I think this relaxed attitude on judgement is dangerous (Ooh, I'll be in a catch 22 loop there). How can you be saved from your bigoted judgements?
So, I have answered, ACTUALLY answered your question. Yes, in the times of the Old Testament, homosexuals would have gone to hell, as would have anyone having sex outside of marriage. And, just like those guilty of casting judgement upon others, remember, all sinners can go to heaven, if they repent their sins. I will pray for guidance for you.

1- I support gun rights and I am also a liberal. 2- I thought Liberals were the elite? You cant have things both ways. 3- I have never heard of any liberal trying to ban all meat products. I also happen to eat loads of meat and do not plan to stop. 4- Homosexuals just want the same rights as everybody else. Conservatives either don't understand this or simply try to make a bigger deal out of it then it is. 5- Again, liberals are suppose to be the elite.... 6- I have heard/read people from both sides calling for shows and hosts to be silenced. 7- Non-christians simply do not want God in the public sector, areas and property in which are government owned. 8- We care about the well being of those less fortunate. However, I am personally not so sure a universal health plan is sustainable.

Yes, I have read the part of the Bible where it says that homosexuality is an "abomination". I have also read the parts where it says "For ALL (guess this means everyone) have sinned and fall short of God's glory" and I have also read the Sermon on the Mount where it says something about not removing the plank from your brother's eye because you might have a bigger one in your eye or something like that. Last but not least, there is the famous "Judge not lest ye be judged". I am not a biblical scholar so I hope that someone more well read in the scriptures will correct me if I am wrong.
Basically, what I understand is that we are all sinners whether we are gay or straight, church going or not. The sins we commit can be anything from immoral sexual behavior to stealing a dime from someones change jar. I also understand that if we seek God's forgiveness for these sins, we are forgiven.
My life is not perfect. Therefore, it is not up to me to tell others how to live their lives. I am not gay but I really don't care what goes on in any bedroom except my own.
Also, you are beating down the wrong door. Liberals??? You might want to talk to the church leaders as some churches are recognizing gays and inviting them into the congregations. One church, I believe the Episcopalian church, elected an openly gay man as a Bishop. Other churches have gay ministries. I really don't claim to know whether or not these church leaders are Liberal or Conservative.
Bottom line, ALL sins are a big deal and we are ALL sinners who fall short of God's glory. However, he offer all of us a chance to seek his forgiveness by asking for it.

Are they going to hell? Well that's up to God to decide. The word says it's a sin but so if fornication. How many people do you know having pre-marital sex? Sin is Sin. I personally don't even bring up the fact that someone is gay when witnessing to them. That's way to big of an issue for me to tackle. I simple tell the (a gay person) that they like everyone else in the world is separated from God because of sin, and I show them the steps of inviting Jesus into their hearts. NOW once they have invited Jesus in I tell them to pray and tell God who they are what they believe and so on and ask God to make his desires their desires his wants their want. I leave the sexuality up to them and God to work out. Christians who can't share the Gospel without bringing in condemnation and fear should just shut up. Their not helping anyone and their not allowing the Holy Spirit to do his job. Homosexuals are human beings. Treat them as so and maybe they will see the love of God in your heart.

I love plagiarizing myself. The problem is that the Biblical prohibition on homosexuality only applies to Christians and Jews It does not apply to anyone else .
I can easily prove that statement.
God allowed the homosexual practices of the Greeks and Romans to happen concurrently with the rise of Judaism and Christianity. If God wanted to he could have easily employed a well aimed lightning bolt or a phaser and removed the Greeks and Romans from the face of the Earth . He chose not to . Since they weren't his chosen people they couldn't break his laws.
That in a nutshell is what all this fundamentalist Christians vs Non-believers brouhaha is all about . Fundamentalist Christians are trying to apply the rules of their club to people who aren't members -and it's wrong

I didn't see your original question, but religious faith is not something humanity should use to judge the morality of human sexual behavior.
Human sexuality is psychologically and physiologically complex. Religious dogma (especially 2000+ year old religious dogma) is simple. Further, it was written at a time when people believed the world was flat.
Even a cursory glance at world history reveals religious dogma to be a very dangerous force in human affairs which, more often than not, has resulted in the systematic persecution and enslavement of other people.

Are you just as tired of people who steal whole companies blind and bankrupt thousands of investors? Think ENRON!
Are you angry over those who kill hundreds of people every year and try to avoid prosecution on a "technicality"
Singling out homosexuals suggests you have a prejudice. The other "sins" I mention do more worldly harm than homosexuality.
You can learn to disapprove of a sinful behavior and still care about the sinner. Jesus did that and He is our example.....

They ARE doing nothing wrong. Isn't there enough to worry about in this world without obsessing about what consenting adults are doing in private? If you don't like what homosexuals are doing, ignore it. Basically it's none of your business anyway. If your gods have anything to do with it, they'll take care of it, I'm sure.
By the way: A lot of what us heterosexuals do in private can be pretty revolting, too. And that's none of your business, either.
Homosexuals need to be saved, alright: They need to be saved from narrow-minded 15th-century bigots like you. Why don't you obsess about the state of education in our country? Or about the jobs that are being shipped overseas so the rich can get richer? How about getting angry about what's happening in Iraq? Forget about the gays.

Let he who is without sin throw the first stone.
There are many things the bible says not to do. I've done them and I'm pretty sure you've done them. Why single out homosexuals? Why is their sin worse than anyone elses?
