I am from the UK originally but I now live in the US, and have visited Vegas a few times.
America is anything but subtle. They do things big. There is no better place to see America doing things big than Las Vegas!
The casinos are huge. Some of the largest hotels in the world are in Vegas. One of them has 5,000 rooms, and another is expanding currently to beat that.
You will see some sights in Las Vegas that you will never see anywhere else in the world. It's really very impressive and very fun.
The shows are amazing spectacles. They are designed for an audience from all over the world, and designed to be impressive. Competition ensures they are always trying to one-up the casino down the street.
Then there are the restaurants. Some world class cuisine.
You'll find every gambling game you can think of in Vegas. From penny slots to the biggest live poker game in the world with blinds starting at $1000/$2000.
There are also some amazing night clubs too.
As with any casino, don't expect to go home a winner. Vegas was not built on winners, but you might get lucky. You never know.
From most parts of Europe you should be able to get a direct flight, and the exchange rate is generally very good. The dollar is weak right now.
I would highly recommend it. It will be a really unique experience and you should have a lot of fun.

Las Vegas is a very entertaining city.
It offers all types of gambling for both small and large amounts.
It offers fantastic food, all types and all price ranges.
It offers unique and fantastic shows, such as the Blue Man Group, Mystere, O, Wayne Newton and other Vegas legends, etc. Just check the nightly schedule.
It offers fascinating sight-seeing, in and out of the city. Just touring the casinos will take several days, even if you don't stop to gamble. The architecture is remarkable, the opulence is awe-inspiring. And the area surrounding the city is also beautiful and worth visiting: Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam, Mt Charleston, Grand Canyon . . . all great places to visit.
We go to Vegas a couple times a year, mostly to gamble but we've seen all the sights too and still enjoy visiting casinos and the surrounding area. And each time we go, there is something new to see.
By the way, Vegas has more free entertainment and more bargain-priced gourmet food than any place I have ever been. And if you visit the same casinos enough times, they will give you free lodging and free food. We never pay for our room or food while there because we visit often enough to get "comped" (compensated for repeat visits). And we seldom lose more than what the visit would have cost if we had to pay for our room and food.
Sorry for rambling about Vegas, but it really is our favorite vacation site.

I Have lived in Florida and now I am living in New York,I have seen pretty much every state in the United States including Hawaii, there is no place in the world like Las Vegas especially if you love to gamble like me. The casinos are huge, the restaurants and the shows are great. There is non-stop entertainment 24/7. There is so much to do and see you cant even cover it in a week and every 6 months they keep on changing things. I try to go every year if I can and always have a great time whether I win or lose. It is definitely worth visiting, once you visit this place you will want to come back.

If you like the idea of glamour, lights, shows, and so forth, you will love Las Vegas; you should definitely visit. I wouldn't come with the idea that you're going to make money, though. I've been to Vegas probably 50 times in my life at least, and I think I've ended up ahead twice--once because of a great night at blackjack, and once because I hit a royal flush on video poker. With or without the gambling, though, Vegas is a lot of fun.

Yes I have. I have paid for all my expenses from either living there or visiting by gambling. Every time. You have to know HOW to gamble to make money, except at slots, which is totally random.

It like me asking you if it worth visiting Europe. After seeing different part of that country in movies, place to see, the food to eat (yes!!!), and reading about it in books. If you said, yes and my answer is yes. Come on over and have yourself a good time.
