Absolutely. It's where all the good nutrients are, just like regular potato skins. The meat inside is all just starch and carbs.

As long as the yams have been thoroughly cleaned before cooking, I have no problem with eating the skins.

YES I DO!! I wash yams, pat dry, rub with margarine,
put in loose covered microwave container with shake
of salt and teaspoon of water. I buy medium size.
I cut bite size with a fork & knife to give my body that
fiber roughage that cleans the intestinal tract. At the
family table, we were encouraged to eat yam & potato
skins for nutrient content and fiber.

I meet people that were spoiled, only ate what they
wanted as kids. I let adults decide at my table.

No, not yams, but I have eaten the skins of sweet potatoes after they were scrubbed and baked.
