How many years of school does it take to become a dentist (total)?

I am attending the U of Texas in Austin, and I was wondering how many years from day of university it will take me to bcome a dentist...

NORMALLY THIS IS 4 YEARS OF UNDERGRAD AND 4 YEARS OF DENTAL SCHOOL. THIS MAY BE FOLLOWED BY 3-4 MORE YEARS FOR A PARTICULAR SPECIALTY OF DENTISTRY SUCH AS ORAL SURGERY, PERIODONTICS OR ORTHODONTICS.
