I own a partnership since July 2006. I haven't seen my schedule K-1 and I can't report taxes using 1065. Who should I go to? Note: I am in California.

You'd have to ask whoever is preparing the partnership return. Ask the other partners and see if the form 1065 has been filed yet.

Partnership returns are due the same day as individuals (April 17 this year) and sadly some people wait until the last minute. If they haven't filed the return yet, but have an idea of what income or loss might pass through, figure that into your return and file an extension. (PS - Make sure to pay any tax you think you'll owe by April 17).

A schedule K-1 would be prepared by the partnership, probably your CPA or Accountant. It is used to determine how much profit each partner received from the business after expenses are considered.

Who prepared the partnership return? They are responsible for cutting the Schedules K-1. Ask them for your copy.

Go to your local post office. They have tax forms there. If that doesn't work, go to your county court house as they have them too. Another option would be going to a tax prep place like H&R Block.
