Yes you want to have a long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve dress, BUT dont be too convinced that it will be absolutely freezing on your wedding day, because you will get screwed by the weather that day if you do. I was married in Dec in NY, I was expecting it to be so cold and had everyone prepared with warm coats and capes everything. Guess what. It was 68 degrees the day I got married and in the 70s the night before for the rehearsal. If you plan for cold, It will defintely be warm. Just be aware of this and dress in layers, they make beautiful strapless dresses with long sleeve bolero jackets over them, so you can take the jacket off at the reception when you tend to get very hot. I would go that route.
Good luck!

My best friend got married this past December, and I went wedding dress shopping with her many a times. I'm not sure what exactly you should wear, since certain styles look better on certain body types, but I'll tell you something that I HATED. There were so many brides in the stores trying dresses on with red embellishments. Including red is something that many people attempt to do for winter weddings. My friend and I hated this. It takes away from the beauty and the simplicity of the dress. Don't let anyone convince you to do it!

First of all, warmth. If it's winter, you'll need something that covers you. Long sleeves, no bare shoulders, etc.
If it were me, I'd avoid anything with a long train or cathedral length veil. I'd want a dress that didn't need to be fussed with when I wanted to sit down, or need to be held when I danced.
You'll want to look pretty, yes. But consider how easily you can move in the dress. If you're comfortable in the dress, you can pay more attention to whatever is going on around you.

I would get whatever type of dress suites you best. If you live in an area where it is really cold during the winter you should consider buying or having someone make you some sort of a shawl or faux fur shoulder only jacket.

You should get the style of dress that you have had your heart set on. I always wanted a winter wedding. I would still have gotten a strapless dress but they sell fake-fur capes that I would have gotten to wear over it when I went outside and stuff. Here is a pic of one at David's Bridal...

I would find a dress with long (but sheer) sleeves...basically, wedding dresses aren't designed to keep you warm. Or lots of dresses now have matching wraps which would be nice going to/from ceremony & reception. Other than that, though, whatever you want!

If you are getting married in the winter months, then a long sleeve is appropriate. A scoop neckline with some beading. The fabrics to use are bridal satin and silk taffeta.

I got married in the colder weather. I wore a short sleeve with low back. It was my dream dress and couldn't let the weather get in the way. whenever we went outside i wore a white fur coat to keep me warm

Wear whatever delights your heart.
I'm assuming this will be an indoor wedding in the coolest part of the year.

If you are going by car, change in car - if not, change when you are about to get there, not right there! like 5 min before arriving there or something!!
