The Bible calls them fools so that people will still believe in that contradictory mess of Judeo/Christian mythology.

I am Christian so now that that is out of the way I was wondering why Christians try to convince an atheist is wrong by quoting the bible - they don't believe in it so why would that be an effective tool to use? That would be like Atheists quoting Darwin - you don't believe in it in the first place so is that really going to sway your thinking on the matter? And I don't necessarily think that they are so smart - I know a lot of dumb ones ... I also know a lot of very stupid Christians... religion has nothing to do with intelligence... I think some were just born that way - they choose their beliefs later.

Religion has nothing to do with intelligence. Most of the intelligent people I know are very religious. You have to be opened minded, just because you believe in something doesn't make it right or wrong it is simply what you believe. I think the only fools are the ones who are so closed minded they see others who disagree with what they believe as idiots or savages.

Most atheists I know have taken the time to investigate various faiths and have reasons for rejecting them. This is entirely different from parroting a particular book or set of scriptures.
So.. most non-Christians have read parts of the Bible. To the person who asked this question: how many scriptures outside of the Bible have you bothered to read? What is so "intelligent" about using the Bible to support the Bible? What is so intelligent about this circular logic?

Go read it yourself: The fool hath said in his ""heart"" (not his head). God does not measure a fool by intelligence, why should we?
There are some extremely intelligent fools, some not so intelligent fools and and some that are a little hasty.

Graphitti in bathrooms have as much validity as scriptures. Questioning origins and beliefs is never foolish. Just ask the followers of Jim Jones.

The negative correlation between intelligence and religious belief is well documented; and your "question" provides further anecdotal evidence.
Do you think any book that says people who don't believe in it are stupid is true?

I think your just as confused as alot of atheists. first. I have never met a single person who thought atheists are intelligent. second. As a christian it isn't your job to judge, you should pray that these people actually gain some intelligence.
