Did I figure out why people keep asking why Atheists post on here?
Could it be those people don't understand why someone would possibly want to understand both sides, or even 100 sides of an argument?
Could the people who ask be the same ones who don't want to know anything that contradicts their religion, and cover their ears and go "LALALALA" when someone tries to say they have a valid reason to believe what they believe too?
Is that why people ask?

Rosbif, I think they know from all the similar titles that pop up when they're writing it! They don't fool me.

Oh most definately.
Here's a quote from part of a hate mail I received the other day, the Christian told me:
"I need not to know about anti-Christian and pagan religions-it would only give me ideas and bring me away from God."
It was basically an admission he didn't even know anything about other religions and didn't want to learn because he is afraid if he did learn anything that he would loose his faith in his god. I told him "You must have extremely weak faith if you feel that way."

It's difficult to understand an Atheist's perspective, when you are not an Atheist.
I appreciate that any question is a valid question.
Some atheist's will not listen to a Deist because they are also saying LALALALA!!
Deist's don't try to define a Higher Power.
Atheist's have closed minds in regards to considering that any thing bigger than them exists.
We are all God's and our collective consciousness is "God".
An Atheist will still argue the point that there is no God.

They just don't realize that atheism is also a faith system.
Most Christians lump the world into two groupings - christians and non-christians. They are often amazed to discover that anyone outside of christianity would be interested in spiritual things.
Most, but not all. There are those who seek to understand other faith systems as well as their own.
LALALALA.... sorry ... well not really, but it was worth a smile wasn't it?

It seems like as good a reason as any. Personally, I'm getting rather sick of it. If people want to start a forum where everyone basically agrees with them, it's really easy--they can even start a group for it here at Yahoo! and use the web-based option, if they like. *sigh*

This is religion and spirituality... Broad spectrum... Christianity is not the only kid on the block and spirituality is more than just one "religion." If they are so tunneled visioned as to believe there's nothing else out here, I feel sorry for them..

Yes I think so, good observation. I personally love the diversity and how everyone questions/attacks the others ideology. I just don’t understand why those annoying Xians are here.

i have been here about a week, and i'm guilty of asking that question.
i can only speak for myself. i asked this myself, but not because i was afraid of hearing alternate, views. i did it because i felt that atheists were absent of all spiritual beliefs, so i just assumed religion and spirituality would be the furthest thing from their mind, for me it was a curiosity. but now i have come to feel that atheists aren't absent of belief they are searching for something to believe in, just my opinion. no offense intended.

I think it's when new people arrive and don't realise the question has been asked thousands of times before
