I don't know how many people that answered are professionals, but I am..shampoo your hair, it will stop the developing process and wash out excess color, the conditioner they give you doesn't do anything a regular one doesn't so it really doesn't matter. Yes, you can shampoo right after a box color, we do in a salon, you can too at home.

If At All Possible, DON'T Shampoo Or Even "Wet" Your Hair For At Least 24 To 48 Hrs. Freshly Colored Hair Takes A Little While To "Stabilize" So The Color Won't "Fade". Shampoo ONLY If You Need The Color "Toned Down".

You should use shampoo while you are rinsing the dye out. This ensures you don't leave any dye in your hair which could continue to develop. Other than that, you shouldn't shampoo for another 48 hours.

Conditioning is fine at any point after since it has no soaps that could fade color etc.

No shampoo for a couple of days unless you think the color is too bright. It will wash some of it out. You really should avoid washing your hair for at least one day after the initial application of dye.

shampoo the dye out, and then condition it, leave a leave in conditioner in it, like Paul Mitchell's "The Conditioner". Its great, and doesnt oil the hair down.

If you do make sure that you use a really good, intensive conditioner or at least use a color protectant product such as Pantene or John Frieda. Depending on the color, you can also get products that intensify/protect your particular color.
