French don't like to say incomplete sentences like that. So it would be "tu es un cochon" you are a pig. Just like lip balm would be "baume pour les levres" instead of "baume levres"

It's called a "French" kiss for exactly the same reason people used to say "Excuse my French" when they used "vulgarities". America was very puritanical and the Victorian English quite straight-laced when, by comparison, the French aristocracy was positively decadent.

"porc" would be nastier than "cochon".

If you are face to face and you really want insult this person you can also say directly "cochon". He will understand you very clearly !!

"PORC !" or "COCHON !"
"porc" is more in the sense of dirty;
"cochon" is more in the sense of sexual or for children
we use "PORC !" (pronounce "por") or "TU ES UN PORC !" (you are a pork)
"SALE PORC ! "or "TU ES UN SALE PORC ! " (you are a dirty pork)
"TU ES UN VRAI PORC" ( you are a true pork)
we use "COCHON" or "TU ES UN COCHON" (you are a pig)
"SALE COCHON !" or " TU ES UN SALE COCHON" (you are a dirty pig"
also we can use adjectives :
"VRAI" (true, real)
"VIEUX" (old) ;

"Espece de con" is much more... fluent. You'd impress a Frenchmen who is on the receiving end of that one!
(Pronounced ess-pess duh cohn, very nasally on the "cohn" - spit it, don't say it.)
