Average German shepherd litter is about 6-7, but my girl's first was 11. I have read that litters of 15 have been recorded but I think this is rare. If you are thinking about breeding, please be responsible and make sure you research both sire and dam's family genetics for possible problems. Shepherds have over 50 medical problems that are directly attributable to genetic inheritence. Contact your local breed club (try a site like AKC to find your local club) and talk to their approved breeders. They are usually happy to share their experience and knowledge. By the way - my girl had 11 and especially with shepherds, it is a LOT of work. 18 hour days, and you must be prepared to keep and raise any unsold or unsaleable pups for their lifetime. Out of 10, I had 1 with megaesophagus. Costs for that pup alone wiped out any profit from the litter, and we will be keeping the pup for the rest of his life. (Of course, he is now 6 months old and an adorable handful!). We will also not be able to breed the mother again, as this condition could have come from her dna. You also have to have Mom and Dad's hips, elbows and temperments certified, which can be costly. Hope this helps.

As many as 20 and I know that is a lot but most litter avrage 6 to 10

I once had a half rottie female, gave birth to 13 once, 9, 11, 11 in three other litters with same dog.

My dogs came from a litter of 12 from a lab mix. most have 8-15 i think.

Worst case or best case. . depending on how you look at it,you could have as many puppies as 13. Been done.
You learn ALOT on Animal Planet on series about this.

depends on how hungry the german shepard, rotweiler or lab retriever is, I guess...also, how big are the puppies?

Uhmm.... hmmmmmmmmmm. Name her after something she reminds you of when you look at her. Maybe on the color of her. A lot of people have been naming their dogs after greek gods. lol I found it weird but hey, the name actually fits the dog.
