Cash may have sang some rough songs, but he was actually a Christian! He is pretty cool.

Despite what some believers might say, I don't believe listening to secular music is necessarily a sin. Of course, there are limits. I would not agree with listening to music filled with profanity, and very negative thoughts. But as long as what you listen to is not affecting your relationship with God, there is no reason to deem it sinful. However, you do need to be considerate of weak Christians, or those who don't have a lot of time being converted. There are not spiritually mature and may be offended by what you do. In this case, feel free to listen to your music when alone, but when others are around, find something else to listen to. That's not being hypocritical. It's being obedient to Scripture in not making your brother to offend. Read 1 Corinthians 8. Hope this helps.

No sins are when you do things to harm others. I like Johnny's music as well. Music is a little slice of heaven anyway.

No, and yes. Johnny Cash may have had some rough spots in his life, but I find it difficult to find a more devoted Christian that he was in his later years. There are stories of people who happened to meet him at church who were amazed to be fortunate enough to have met him. He always asked the question, "do you know my Jesus?"

the way i see it, depending on how you tranlate the words of the bible, and how strict a chirstian you are, pretty much anything in life we enjoy, besides worshipping god is a sin. i wouldn't worry about sin. simply enjoy life, including any music you choose. If God is as forgiving as people say, than you have nothing to worry about. :)
