religion in general is a structured belief system.
It removes all faith and instills rules. Instead of following your heart, you follow a priest, minister or shepard even.
It has very little to do with faith, most people join a religion to make sense out of their faith and they end up just giving up faith and following the crowd.
I am a Christian, but I do not believe in organized religion.
It used to be that non-denominational meant no denomination, but now it is another type of church, so I can't really claim that anymore. But if I had to label myself, I guess it would still be a non-denominational Christian. People are so busy learning the rules they forget not everything can be found in one book. Sometimes you must search the library!!

Religion is a word which can be taken two ways, one way is a relationship with God, yet religion can be like the people of Jesus day which called for him to be crucified. When it all boils down to it it should not be about religion but a relationship.

I agree with you about "religion"....for me, 'Spirituality" is where it's at...
The word 'religion" to me, means control...control over what one is supposed to believe and think. Control over what is "sin"...Religions are a bunch of man made rules in some cases...better to stay away from joining one....hear what they preach, if you want, but stay an independent person, just studying and asking for God's guidance..

I think of religion as being a form of Godliness without the relationship. I don't consider myself religious at all.
I'm a Christian and I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

religion is about the ritual and the rules about how you act, how you speak, who you associate with, and being a plastic cookie cutter churchgoer.
faith however is a personal experience that is individual to every person, that is between you and God and no one else. religion takes that personal quality away, and makes it between you and God and Father Todd or Pastor Joe.
i am a christian and i consider myself to be spiritual and full of faith, but i hate the word religious and i don't use it to describe myself.
