It's simply popular because it humorously illustrates just how ridiculous, arbitrary, nonsensical and mindless all theisms are. And it also gives theists the chance to experience how we feel about their beliefs. The way they react to the FSM is exactly how we atheists react to their silly and unsupportable claims. And frankly, belief in a spaghetti monster is not any more silly and insensate than belief in the Trinity, virgin birth and resurrection of the dead, let alone demons and angels and wars in heaven.

Why not take it as a religion? At least it is honest about being made up. And you can do everything for the FSM that you do for the mythical god and get the EXACT same results.

If you would use your noddle, you would realize that truth is truth, and only fast food junkies could possibly fail to recognize the truth in the health and taste benefits of spagetti. Are you a junkie, or are you going to join the FSM movement toward better eating and better religion. Your spirit is what you eat.

FSM is popular because atheism is. FSM is just a way to make fun of religion while being atheist.

reasonable people are really tired of trying to have serious dialogue with the supernatural constantly invoked, so they figured they would turn it around. Maybe the religious people will realize how annoying it is, until then i honestly don't think it is just a fad.

Ramen. His noodly appendages are what keep me going. Really, they pull me out of bed and drop me off in the shower.
